The fire ring compresses on aluminum as well as it does on ductile iron. Why wouldn't these be compatible with sleeved motors?

It was stated they bite into the aluminum, if that is the case, how hard would they be if they can bite into the aluminum and still compress? Iron is a little harder than block aluminum. Maybe I should have asked if they are designed for sleeved setups.

I see. I thought stu was was talking about machining a receiver grove to accept the ring. Can't decide whether to O-ring or try these on my Benson block then.

That is a question for IAG, the rings are only grooved on one side and the grooves go towards the heads.

Hmm... so maybe the grooves just bite into the (known aluminum) heads to stabilize them once the heads are torqued. That would take the load off the surrounding composite. I'm sure someone from IAG will eventually explain all of the benefits. Hopefully this is a product that will allow a lot more higher power builds to survive.

Yes, that is exactly what Athena had done. I guess JE for whatever reason won't supply them, so I'm glad someone is going through with it.

Sweet, I didn't realize JE finally started selling the fire ring gaskets...either that or I forgot. I did check out of Subaru stuff for a couple years while doing Ford's race engines.

I'll ping my sales rep at JE and get the run down.

These are MLS gaskets so not really any different than all the rest out there. Not really anything to do with this thread.

On a side note I have 100 miles on these guys and so far so good. 120 psi on all 4 cyl running Amsoil break in.

i cant find these for EJ20. are they only for EJ25? i would like a set of these for when i rebuild my 207 and cram 40psi down its throat
