Definitely a nice build, what does the owner plan to do with it?

Enzo Ferrari didn't give a damn about selling cars, and I can't imagine (based on the typical Ferrari engine) that he ever said that torque wins races.
But that's neither here nor there when it comes to this thread. |

I love when people think Ferraris and Hondas don't make great tq. Yes, it's a lower value because it's flat from 3500-8000 RPM...do the math.
Any jackass can make a lump of tq down low but best of luck keeping it up through race revs. |

With that said, it doesn't sound like your idea of "great torque" is the same as mine. But that's neither here nor there when it comes to this thread. |

Fairly confident that this V12 plus twin TDO620G's will make great torque.

Collected a few more parts this weekend.
Turbo 400 with adaptor plate for A340, That's a 2JZ bellhousing, haven't got the 1GZ yet. Just been rebuilt with a new drum, extra clutches and larger sprag. Needs a custom converter once I get the bellhousing and some dimensions. Cracka(car owner) did some work cutting off the plenums in preparation for some tapered custom jobs. He also delivered the TDO6SL2 20G's and tial 38's. Here's a shot showing the current effect of engine weight on the car. With the subaru drivetrain it sat level. Still the T400 and turbos etc to go but it gives a bit of perspective on engine weight. |

Very impressive. Do you need to modifiy the engine internals for forced induction?

No, we are just going to limit power to around 500hp atw. The rods in late toyota engines are very light and small which limits your power output. 1UZ's post 96 break rods at ~450hp atw and the rods in the 1GZ are similiar(powdered metal with a break line). Fortunately there is 4 more of them to share the load so 500 atw should be ok. the compression ratio is not really a problem as we are only running 10 psi or so.

I would use the std Aisin A341 before a TH700. Overdrive is not an issue, it's just a toy for events like Powercruise http://www.powercruise.com/ and drags. Diff ratio will ease the pain there.
I already had the TH400 available with adaptor and built ready to go. |
