If you wanna find out about the Ascent launch and official release info and details about the 2019 Ascent, you have to weed through the thread to find it. Nobody bothered to update the OP which only talks about the concept. Great job everybody.

About a month before they hit the ground. We are hearing May production with June deliveries; so,......sometime in May I'd think. Of course, that can change. This is the part I hate. Revealing a car then having to wait 6+ months for it.

Going to be very interesting to see the price swing. "Low 30s" starting price to $50K is A LOT. The most expensive Outback I've seen soo far is $43K and that had many accessories. I can see the Ascent topping out(no accessories) around $45K.

and again........6 months........

I can't imagine any Subaru costing $50k, even with additions.

OTD @ MSRP, I see being close to 50k when fully optioned. Most expensive outback without accessories is what, 37K? So add maybe 7K due to the fancy features that exceed that of the Outback... MSRP of 44 max?

What fancy features though? The top of the line trim is going to come standard with Eyesight which would be the most expensive feature to add.

Oh hey, I might be able to buy a Subaru again!

Those first model year problems tho. Subaru hasn't exactly gotten that right in the past. I'm not interested in new engine problems.

Does any company make a perfect first model year vehicle? Or a flawless vehicle ever?

Now, with Subaru's AWD my choice for these past 27 years in WV's mountains, neither snow nor terrain has stopped me... excepting the time extraordinarily deep snow proved a WRX's ground clearance was insufficient for my needs... when its AWD was taken out of the equation.

With its ground clearance and Subaru's AWD, curbs are the least of an Ascent's worries... as it is my FXT's.

CYA, funny you should say that. Everyone over at the Lexus forums and even the Toyota forums all say the same thing about the AWD in their vehicles with the same reasons. "No issues over here and I've been driving for 10 years in this stuff!" Yeah, those people have been driving on a straight, flat road that is always plowed at 5:00 AM in the morning. No **** Sherlock, of course you found no issues with the AWD in those conditions.

Odd,in some interviews the big guys say spring or at the latest early summer for a on sale date. That tells me april- May or June at the latest. Really? it appears they could start now. Perhaps the suppliers have to gear up but a lot of the parts and pieces are from the parts bin that they already have

So I see, once again, that when someone questions our decisions or views we just attack them personally. Happy Friday, welcome to the internet.

Some of you need to practice the art of silence.

Anyway, someone take a look when they come out, I would like to know if a full size spare will fit under the rear, or where ever the spare tire is supposed to go.

Peace,

Greg

Perhaps you're not realizing this AW, but in no way did I ever once make a disparaging comment towards you as a person. I simply spoke about the technical realities of what is available today. When someone challenges your beliefs, you return not with technical responses, but unfounded personal attacks. You cannot have a discussion without bringing personal attacks into it, and your lack of ability to recognize that has put you back on the ignore list. Whether it's towards me, or someone else, you do nothing but aggravate.

Subaru of Indiana Automotive is on a very precise schedule. May production for late-May to early-June release sounds about right to me. They run a tight ship there. Last May they were still expanding and setting up the Ascent assembly area.

I'm always looking for ways to remove my spare. I put my emergency first-aid kits and tools in the spare tire area.

Perhaps, but, a lot of it is also new. I see more new than the same. Initially I heard April production to May delivery. That got changed months ago(from what I've heard); but, has held steady on that since. Could it change? Certainly.

Probably not, but with all the issues I've had its more than enough to let others beta test 1st model years

Ok, Besides the engine and a revised HDCVT I see outback parts (shifter switchgear) Inprezaish dash material and gauges. Perhaps the overhead HVAC is new but nothing far out

I think a Premium with a roof looks like the best buy and from what I see it's your typical Subaru build and midline configuration.

I love my 2006 Tribeca which I've now handed down to my oldest daughter for her first car at 215,000 miles! It was a first generation model and besides the beta test thing, I feel I also got robbed of features that came a year later which one big one was the lack of an audio auxillary jack. In the ipod world of the time, I had to use an FM transmitter (yuck!) or use this special cord to plug in through the DVD Entertainment system component AV inputs which never was loud enough and since the DVD player could ONLY be controlled via the easy to misplace remote (another complaint, also never addressed) was very difficult to use resulting in just using CD's instead (thankfully it had a 6 disc in-dash changer, something lacking in the lineup now).
