It's crazy. I sold my STi in 2012 so at this point I would have been waiting 7 years for a DIT hatch.

I sold my STI in 2008 expecting to have a good one to replace it just a few years later... I'm doing my best to not want the first model year of this new STI, so I'm looking at about 17 years between STIs.

Oh Subaru you KILL me!

I think they're too busy counting the money from all their Outback sales to worry about an STI.

I'll let you know how that 1st year model is. That's been my plan for a bit. This delay is just making the possibility easier.

My boss wants me to get the S209. I told him if he took care of half of it, I would. I'd even slap on any advertising he wanted on it.

I just got off the phone with the stealership here, I was flat out told there was no way I would be able to buy an S209.

I don't know which one makes me sadder, no new STI or being shut down on the S209.

How about we get a BRZ for 10 years but we don’t get a Levorg?

Yeah, I watched the press briefing about the S209, my wife looked at me funny when I booed Tom Doll.

I'm a hatch guy and no thanks to Levorgs. Those things (at least to me) are like station wagons with sagging diaper look rear bumper + Taurus tailights..

I don't usually buy sedans, but I own both current gen STI and WRX. They are that good.

I wouldn't mind getting the refresh STI, but since I have the 19 WRX Limited, I guess the pre-refresh facia on my 16 gives some variety. I will definitely be interested in the next gen STI.

Something something, performance is defined in the sedan segment.

Maximum sales are defined in the small sportscar segment.

When do they typically announce the new model year STIís? Everything I search on only talks about the s209, which is probably going to have a terrible markup even if they were available. Personally, Iíd like to see them move to the fa24, given the age of the ej platform. I own a 2012 legacy gt since it came off the line, love it...highly modified (20g turbo, etc.), but I want to move to a smaller, newer sedan with more performance room to play...that is not the same old ej.

This will be the year of the legacy/outback so donít expect the SGP STI with possible FA motor this year... I expect a new, closer-to-production iteration concept in November near the next LA auto show, but not for production this year. The new model year STI (MY2020 VA with EJ) will probably be shown in and around the NY auto show since it falls in line with the usual April ordering for summer delivery.

Thatís my expectation at least.

Is it like a job perk or they just elected to go?

Itís now on my bucket list, a lot more affordable than the Lambo or Porsche winter schools, lol.

Now, do you guys think it will be released summer 2020 like it was released last gen, or do you expect a fall release like the ascent, forester, and new legacy have been having?

Summer 2020 for MY2021 WRX/STI? Sure. Pending production restraints.

Then new Impreza. Then new Crosstrek. Probably a BRZ sprinkled in.

Not looking forward to seeing how much it will cost with up to 25% tariff. By then hopefully a new president will have reversed tariffs.
