Default Back Up Camera/Reverse Lights not functioning in Reverse

I plan on taking the car to the dealership to have this looked at eventually as it is still under warranty, but I was hoping it's an issue someone has been able to find an easy fix for.

2018 STi. In the last month or so I have noticed if I put the shifter fully into reverse the back up camera or reverse lights do not function. There is a very narrow range on the gear lever where they will turn on, but quickly turn off again when the car is moving and the gear knob moves slightly. I was going to have the dealership look at it, but was hoping there is something I can adjust myself to get it working properly. I found a couple of related posts, but I don't think it's the switch on the transmission being out as it does function, but in a very narrow range. Thank you for your help!

My guess is the switch is causing the trouble. If there is a way to adjust the position of the switch that might fix the issue. If that can't be done I think you may need to replace the switch. Fortunately you are under warranty for the repair.

The switch is on the rear left-hand side of the transmission. The activation window is teeny-tiny and sometimes the factory copper washer on the sensor is thick enough that the switch will not trigger.

Buy 3-4 new washers and sand them down a bit until you get one thin enough to work, but not so thin that the reverse pin bottoms out against the switch face (which would prevent you from engaging reverse gear). You should obviously test the switch, but that's the easy part.
