There are a bunch of photos of the quarter panel process on my Instagram feed https://www.instagram.com/john_br/ and also under the hashtag "slamaru" which I use pretty much whenever I post something about my car: https://www.instagram.com/explore/tags/slamaru/
I've also re-hosted a bunch of the photos and have current links on my StanceWorks build thread: http://www.stanceworks.com/forums/sh....php?p=1497171 -- Bit of an update... My big pile of AN fittings arrived from JEGS on Friday so I'm going to get started on plumbing up the air management this week I guess. I enjoyed my last setup quite a lot but two small pumps (400s) and two 3 gallon tanks was just overkill for me. I'm switching to an AirZenith OB2 with a single 24x6" Seamless tank which will result in much much quicker 110-150psi fill times which is what is most important to me. This setup frees up some space in the spare tire compartment so I decided to spruce it up with some hard lines this time around. I'm running all 3/8" hard line (-06AN) just because I think it looks better than 1/4" and converting down to 1/4" PTC on the outside of the vehicle since I've already run the line and am happy with it, and also just prefer the speed and precision of 1/4" line compared to 3/8". The front of the car airs out a bit quicker than the rear end so I think I'm going to mount some flow controls somewhere around the rear subframe so that I can make the car air out evenly. I also dusted off my old DSLR and picked up a 50mm lens to have some fun with, so I'm going to try to take more/better pictures of build details on the car

Just a few small details... new hose and fittings for the power steering pump inlet, finalized catch can plumbing, ohhhh and a black boot for the alternator post... FANCY!
I changed up the power steering pump inlet a bit, now it's a -6AN ORB to -10AN male (previously was -8 male) and replaced the 90* elbow off the pump inlet with a 120* fitting that makes the hose routing just a little bit cleaner: All the various hoses hidden under the intake have been cleaned up a bit, no more tees, everything has its own port. After deleting so much stuff there really isn't much left that needs a reference, just the recirc valve, fuel pressure regulator and brake booster plumb to the intake manifold and the two hoses off the turbo inlet are a 1/2" vacuum source for the catch can, and the recirc line for the boost solenoid. |

I got started on my hard lines!
Once I've got everything fit I'll be carpeting the wood. I'm just waiting on pump isolation mounts to do the line from the pump to the tee, and to drill some holes in that MDF. Next up is the last 4 hard lines from the manifold (for the air springs) which will route to PTC to NPT bulkheads on each side of the chassis. All this stuff is -6 (3/8) but will be downsized to 1/4" air line on the other side of the bulkhead to the bags since all that is already run nicely and I don't want to redo it... and I just like the look of -6 more than -4 for "the bling factor" Last edited by BagRidersJohn; 03-02-2017 at 07:18 AM. |

Finished up my bends!
Next up, a few bulkheads, plumbing/wiring hidden under the MDF, carpeting MDF and painting the tank. Fun! |

Here's a couple shots from Wolfsgart this summer courtesy of Brian (@dutchswift on IG)
And a little update.... Well I haven't worked on the car all that much in the last couple weeks, been busy and blah blah blah excuses :P I've done some boring stuff like got my exterior air line and wire routing figured out for my new management setup. I've decided that I won't have any wires or nylon airline visible in the trunk area (last time around there were two air lines and a wire loom visible), so the wires for the 3H manifold, compressor power, etc. need to run down below the management platform, out of the vehicle then back into the vehicle which I've achieved with a few carefully drilled holes hidden beneath the OEM trunk paneling. Yay! Well, no pictures of that stuff, so just close your eyes and use your imagination Otherwise, I just about finished with prepping the MDF for carpet, now I'm just waiting on threaded wood inserts and some M6 hardware to come in from McMaster. I'm gonna try to get most of the wiring finished up tonight and that board carpeted so once the McMaster order comes in I can slap the hardware in and get this show on the road! Last thing worth noting is that I finally got fed up with the awful 37* flaring tool I was using (the generic style from JEGS, harbor freight, etc.) that kept producing lopsided flares no matter what I did, so I caved and ordered the pricey Rigid flare tool... man what a difference this tool makes. JEGS tool on the left, Ridgid tool on the right. Results speak for themselves!! |

I finished up my air ride plumbing, sorry for hipster black and white I'll upload a legit photo at some point
My friend Cyrus got to work on new charge piping and he is absolutely killing it. He's the guy that did all the fab work on our liberty walk e92 a few years back, and is also the guy who welded the quarters on my car. Basically any major fab is done by Cyrus, he's the man. 2" piping off the turbo, expanded to 2.25" just before bend at the front of the engine-- I love this small detail!! Tested for hood clearance and its all good! Woohoo! The hot side is just about done, hoping to have the cold side done (all 2.5") by this weekend! Once the charge piping is all done, its just a matter of securing a few reference hoses in the engine bay, torquing down the intake manifold and filling up fluids then she's road ready once again! Very stoked! |

Pipes are done! Just noticed I've got a front inner CV boot that's about to tear through so I'll be replacing that tomorrow night, but aside from that it's just fluids and its (hopefully) good to go!
I also fit up a new rear diffuser. In order to add some rigidity and probably better performance, I affixed the diffuser to the bumper cover with OEM push clips as well as to the rear crossmember by nutserting the crossmember and diffuser and connecting the two with these little rods that I made. All M6 hardware, and 3/8 airline to cover the threaded rod for a finishing touch. I like these little details that likely no one will ever see by myself... just makes me happy when I'm underneath the car |

https://instagram.fbed1-1.fna.fbcdn....49254912_n.jpg Is the coolant surge tank still the perrin can you had earlier? Those details are great, keep them coming. Are those the std riv-nuts? I never had a best luck installing those in FRP without damage, probably my user error though. They make some soft material versions that I always wanted to experiment with but have not had a chance yet. Also I spy some McMaster Carr alloy split bushings being used for ARB lateral stops... The coolant surge tank is indeed still the Perrin one I picked up ages ago. I made a simple bracket and mounted it near the side of the radiator similar to the OEM location but a bit more tucked out of the way. Re: the rivnuts yeah they're your run-of-the-mill steel rivet nuts/nutserts. They crunched a little bit on the FRP but the "flange" (i.e. crushed area) is strong and didn't punch through the material at all. I've had that problem before doing nutserts in plastic body panels. In those scenarios I'll use a nutsert with a larger operating range and add a washer on the inside of the panel. I've used aluminum nutserts in similar applications and those work fine too. I use threaded inserts in woodworking projects (as you can tell I don't like nut/bolts haha) but I don't think those would be appropriate here. Good eye! The split collars on the lateral links were a little test I was doing. I think I'm going to reposition the height sensors for my air ride system so that they read off the lateral link- in doing so I would mount the sensor to the rear crossmember and tap the split collar to accept a bolt for the linkage-rod on the sensor. They work in the exact same fashion as headlight levelers to get you an idea if you aren't already familiar. As of now, the sensors are mounted in a way which works just fine, but interferes with ones ability to reach the camber bolts on the upright from underneath the car like you would do with the vehicle on an alignment rack. It's easy enough to temporarily disconnect the sensor linkage and gain access to the bolts, but that bothers my perfectionist side and honestly I just like to tinker with things |

Those details and a re-read through your journal has helped me in a few concern areas already. Thanks!

Got some 265/35's that fit perfectly with the wide body on an 18x9.5 +35
Still a bit of adjusting to do but I'm digging the look and I think it will be a huge improvement for the way the car drives. 400+ whp and smaller-than-stock stretched tires with "too much" negative camber just don't mix well. I'm getting old I think :P |

Thanks!! and me too haha I gotta do a bit of fitment adjusting before it goes back on the road, and also going to remake/replace the rack to reservoir PS hose... getting air in the system while driving and since I've replaced both other hoses I figure I must have a compromised o-ring in that one or something, so gotta replace it and hope for the best!

Got the new setup somewhat dialed. I've been testing out our new "Bags by OCD" with BC Racing BR Type coilovers. They ride nice, but I'm running the "extreme low" struts and IMO they're a bit too short for this kind of wheel setup. It was perfect on 17's with stretched tires but I think more stroke would be nice with the larger wheels/tires. Maybe I'll swap out the dampers for more R&D

Those wheels look really good. I don't dislike that at all.

I tidied up my hard lines a bit
Those meaty tires didn't fit the way I was hoping for an would rub pretty bad in the rear around corners, so I ended up putting them on my daily specB. The reason for the overfenders is that the quarters were all rusted out, and I didn't want pay for (2) proper QP replacements, nor could I do them myself as we don't do any body work or painting in our shop. So, I cut out the rust, hammered up the quarters, welded it shut and POR15'd and seam-sealed the crap out of them. No more rust, and the overfenders look.... well, they're overfenders ¯\_(***12484;)_/¯ Haha they came out good, I'm just not really a fan of them in general... oh well, functional at least! |

Those last few were with our 5d mkii and an 85mm canon lens (the lesser expensive one). Other DSLR shots are with my old ass Rebel XT and a 50mm or 24mm probably.
-- Thanks to everyone who came and said hi this weekend at WBM, I had a great time! Here's a few shots I've been tagged in Davey Photography Krzysztof Cody @ Air Lift |
