Default kenwood ipod adapter question

I have a kenwood KDC-X790 with the KCA-ip500 ipod adapter. Does anyone know how to browse through your collection by artist other than pushing scan until you get to the right mode and pushing the control knob until you find it? I have it on shuffle most of the time, but I would like to be able to find something if I need to. Also, when I have it on shuffle, it displays the name of my ipod instead of the artist name. Anyone know how to fix either of these? I didn't know anyone who had these, but the reviews were great so I took a chance. I like the head unit, but i was hoping for something more like my ipod interface in it.

One more thing. Does anyone have the PAC ipod to kenwood cable? Does it display the ipod info on the head unit or is it just an interface cable?

I have the KCA-iP500 Ipod adapter on the DPX-701 which has 2 display lines. I you are just seeing the name of your ipod I found out that it is because you dont have a play list name. Mine will show the playlist name on one line and the sone title on the other line. I you don't have playlist and don't won't to use them for a group of songs I would sugest making a playlist for every song just give it the songs title or whatever. I could maybe look at the instruction book of your car stereo and see if I can tell anything more.

Oh and I am loving mine. More display lines equals more information you can see at one time and more sastifaction with the adapter from what I have seen.

I looked up your head unit and noticed I forgot to mention one thing. Your unit will dispay up to three line which is what mine will do, you can set up the display screen for every mode the stereo is in like CD,Tuner,EXT. Go to the Ipod mode which is EXT I think and change the display to show 3 lines, Cor D I think. Then you can customize each line for the thing you want to see. I believe that you can only see up to 2 lines of song infomation though.

I will try and get a picture of mine showing the display in Ipod mode and post it.
Hope this helps!

That's exactly what mine looks like. It will display the artist title if I go straight to a certain artist or album, but I use all songs on random, so it looks like yours with the ipod name on the top line. It works great, just something that I would like to see that isn't there.
