Default Remote Oil Pressure/Oil Sensor Firewall Mount Questions

So I plan to install a remote oil line from the rear galley plug and mount a billet distribution block somewhere on the firewall that will have both the Oil Temp and Psi sensors. Here is the block I plan to use

Now I know there is ALOT of different theories of where oil temp should be measured and I get that. My question tho, if I have a "16" stainless braided line going to this distribution block with both sensors will the temp readings be way off because its not the probe directly in the flow path of the engine oil say if it were directly in the oil galley plug. Or am I over thinking this.

oil temp readings will be in another universe off

drill/tap oil drain bolt and install it there if you want the best spot

Yeah you don't want to do that. oil temps will not even be close. You can use one of our adapters in the pan drain port and pull pressure from the gallery port under the alternator; we have adapters for that port as well.

Temps will be way off as stated, pressure will read correctly...but I'd question the integrity of the hose ends over time. The constant movement of the engine will put a lot of stress on the line and ends. Tough choice between line integrity and mounting sensitive sensors directly to the buzzing metal engine, lol.

Ok thanks for the advice. How about the sandwich adapter plate. Not ready to go drilling holes in my oil pan or upgrading to a killer B oil pan

I think you misunderstood what I said. We have adapters that screw right into the OEM pan drain plug.

Not a fan of sandwich adapters unless you have to (remote oil cooler, relocated oil filter, etc...) due to the higher probability of having issues.

Not at all. I dont think the threaded sensor into the oil pan is how I want to go. And I agree 100% with the sandwich plate. I guess I will have to use the rear galley plug location.

I am running one of those KillerB pan drain plug for the temp sensor, works great!

For temp? You can do that, but keep in mind for comparative data, it will be different. Why don't you want to sense oil temp from the pan like most others do?

This location places the temp sensor directly in the largest volume of oil in the engine. This is THE PLACE to pull oil temp from.

If you measure on the rear of the block, you will never be able to directly compare your oil temps to that of other Subaru owners. Practically EVERYONE pulls temp from the pan.

I was just looking to hear all possible options for a temp sensor. Yes the pan is the correct and best place for sure. Just seeing what others did

Sometimes it's not worth the effort to think outside the box... The sun will rise and it will set and oil temperature shall be taken from the oil pan.
