Default FP Red, Pump Gas. 423/422

my Sti build.... I come from the dsm world, where fp is ranked among the best, but sube guys just seem to bash it here.
I mean honestly I don’t see why. The Turbo looks great! And if I had a dollar for every fitment issue I had. I would have no money.

Installed:

Forced Performance FPRed 8cm turbine housing.
APS 3"inlet
JDM TGV (less) housings
Grimspeed plates
Power enterprise 850's
APS DR725 FMIC
Ghetto Catch can. (Still no oil in can)
HKS Turbo timer
Extreme Motorsports did the tuning255lph Fuel pump
AEM Cold Air intake
Stock MAF Configuration
Stock ecu, tuned with open source
AEM Electronic boost controller

There may be more... but this is all I remember for now. Like I stated earlier, there was not one problem with this build. The biggest holdup was removing the stock intake Manifold, those 3 or 4 bolts underneath were insanely hard to remove.

Scored 423/422 hp/torque on extremes dyno, pump gas, and 11.8-1 afr's. I was hitting almost 440 tourque with the boost around 26, but then we set it down to 24 on this chart.

Everything literally just bolted right up
Any questions fire away, I have been on this setup for over a year…. And still no problems. As you can see, minimal work. Absolutely no internals. Runs very strong, fully spooled by 4200 just like a 35r. I mean I feel I see the same numbers as any 35r on pump. So for anyone wanting to keep the stock position turbo. Def the best in my opinion. This dyno run was at sea level… it was raining out so I am guessing really humid…..

Is there anyway a mod can change the title to "fp red, pump gas dyno" to make it easier for searching?

Mostly people bash because their customer service isn't that great and EVEN worse with Blouch...

Their turbo's are nice - its just when you have questions its like pulling teeth from a Bull...

Bottom 3 bolts? You mean that hold the wiring harness up? Just unplug the harness and worry about the bolts after the manifold is out

anyway how do you like the Red?

Are you talking about HIS injectors, and YOUR turbo? Different turbos, different machines. Fail, of course they are going to be different.

Yeah after i fought the bolts for 3 hours and finally got it off, i looked at the aps directions from the inlet and discovered that unplugging trick. I mean hey, lesson learned the hard way.

I love the Red, I will defend it and fp up and down all day. I sometimes wish that they could come with a 9 or 10cm turbine or something to make big numbers up top. But as tame as the powerband is, reaching 350 by 4200 rpm, and holding it all the way up, i think it is the perfect setup for road racing. The lag isn't even noticeable other than being really difficult to launch (compared to the stocker).

Cant wait for a EMS and meth so i can see 500 on pump gas....

Bizko1288 - Did you go w/ IWG or running a EWG? I didn't see it stated in your first post.

SpoolinRed - You should post up the goods.

This is a internally gated Red also.

and to spoolin red- I am def on the same page as you. I dont think spool is any different as the Ball bearing 35r, actually, i bet if you put the two graphs side by side, they would be hard to tell which one is which.

Do you have some data logs? Your fuel is all over the place and I think you are detonating up top. If you have some logs, I could take a look and possibly help you out. Anyway, just thought I would offer.

Yeah its a stock maf.
My plan is to go Hydra next so that will get fixed.

AkumaMotorsports: I would def love some help. Like these guys are saying, it may be detonating up top, my tuner was a evo guy so i have the feeling that it is not a perfect tune. I'll try to post some logs up tomorrow. Any help would be greatly appreciated, tuning is my one true weakness

Their product delivery is excellent - But when I email or call with questions - that either don't get answered or the person I talked to talks around my question and tell me just to buy their turbo - that isn't what I called to ask about.

Just wasn't thrilled to their response and their lack of a returned email or 4.

Great setup, FP Red is a great turbo IMO. You should have that mess after 5K RPM checked out though...

I have pretty much the same setup but have internal engine work done and some cams.

dyno'd at just under 400whp on a mustang dyno. Here is the graph for reference.
