I'm pretty sure this is unique--didn't see it on any wrx forum while I was researching how to do it. I replaced the tail light 7440 sockets for 7443 and am running switchbacks. Dual turn signal + dual reverse. Wired with a relay so that that they can function normally if both signalling and reversing (parallel parking)

No step by step pics, sorry.

I'll do my best to explain

Parts:
2 Relays: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017VDI0GY?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00
2 pairs of sockets: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0097AA126?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s012 pairs of bulbs: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B019EYJU80?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00 These are not cheap but I've had good results with these bulbs. You can roll the dice on ebay bulbs...
18 awg wire
connectors/vampire clips. I use positaps because they do less damage to the stock wiring: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004D0HJBG?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00 and http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001MPW54G?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s01
1. Trim the sockets. There are 4 tabs, 2 wide and 2 slim. the slim ones need to be removed entirely. The wider ones need to be trimmed. I cut about a quarter off each edge so that the result was half the width. For the hatch door sockets you will also need to clip the rounded lip and round the socket in general. I basically removed the existing socket and tried to mimic it.

2. Tweak the bulbs. Not sure why I had this issue but I had to flip all of the bulb pins to get them to fit into the sockets. Be careful-they are a little fragile and should only be bent once or you risk breaking them. Once switched, some of the metal pins block the locking tabs on the base. I just trimmed them a little.

3.Wire the outer sockets. Start on the right--that's where the reverse wires are run. The green is a ground, red is the signal, white is the reverse. For the outer tail sockets, I clipped the old sockets and soldered on the signal wire. I soldered a blade connector to the white wire--I wanted to be able to disconnect. Poke a hole in the grommet to run your wire through. Solder a female blade connector to the wire. Tap that wire into the reverse wire (brown and yellow, iirc). Use that same tap to run a wire over the top trim piece to the left tail. While you're behind the right tail, peel back some of the electrical tape from the tail wiring. There are 4 wires-the white wire is the signal positive. Tap that wire because you'll need that signal for the inner tail.

4. Wire inner sockets. Tap into the white wires from each turn signal. Run the wire up into the hatch trim and through the rubber boot that passes wires into the hatch door. Grab your relays. The signal wire you just ran goes to pin 30. Then run a wire from the center, 87a, pin to the red wire on the new socket. You will not be using the 87 pin. The oem socket is wired with a plug. Unplug it. I didn't want to clip that plug so I used taps on the positive and ground. From the positive tap you are going to run two wires. One goes to the white socket wire and the other goes to pin 86 (I soldered). From the ground tap, one wire goes to the green wire on the socket and the other goes to pin 85. This configuration allows for OEM funcionality when both signaling and reversing.

5.Insert and test the bulbs. The bulbs will light no matter how yo insert them but to get proper turn signal functionality, you may need to flip. All you have to do isturn onte blinker and make sure the bulb is flashing amber.

Custom cell phone holder with built in lightening cable hooked into the head unit. There are magnets in the back of the holder so the load isn't completely carried on the connector when I accelerate. I sunk them just below the surface, then put filler over them.

That looks like a upgraded stock mount IC for an RX-7.

Isn't it a bad idea to have magnets that close to your cell phone?

I don't have any testing to reference, but it hasn't affected it yet. I got the magnets from a magnetic cell phone holder. They don't actually stick to the cell phone itself. I had to put a metal plate in the phone case. The metal plates came with the magnetic cell phone holder.

I dunno, Cobb uses magnets to hold the acessport in the mount. Obv there is more tech inside a cell phone but still.

Anyway, epholler, that setup is very clean. A++ for execution.

Yeah I'm probably thinking of older computer stuff, because I'm old.

A lot of smartphones use magnets in their docks to trigger "docking" mode or whatever, so your clock displays across the screen and whatever else you want to make your phone more like an alarm clock or whatever. And the screens aren't CRT like old monitors and TVs and the storage is all solid state vs magnetic hard disc drives. Should be good to go.

Not quite as custom as the phone holder a few posts up but still unique (I think). I wanted to mount my AP but all suction/dash mounts failed in some condition (heat or cold or even altitude...). I didn't want to permanently damage anything that I may resell. Only parts are a cheap donor ebay mount, jb kwikweld, some body filler, and black rattle can. The finish isn't perfect but it's good enough for me--it'll be covered by the AP when I am in the car. Could also be used for a phone/gps holder location.

Probably posting in the wrong thread. Nothing special, just a project I've been working on at work. Figured I would share. Was planning on having it powder coated but starting a new project.

That's quite clever, and is integrated quite nicely into the binnacle. Nice work!

I'm impressed by the patience of those of you who undertake those sorts of polishing projects. I don't think I could do it! You could probably share that in this thread, too.

Thank you, have over 60+ hrs of filing, sanding, TIG welding, more sanding, polishing and porting. Wasn't bad though, was there for when I had no work at the shop.
