Default Shift knob thread size

Hi, I was trying to get an aftermarket shift knob, and I want a direct fit. I was told that subaru shares the same size thread as a japanese manufacturer, but I dont remember who it was.

Is there any truth to that? I thought I heard we have the same thread size as toyota?? Does anyone know if we share the same size of any car?

p.s. i searched 'thread size' and didnt get relevant results.

thanks,

dan

i'm pretty sure it's the same size as our lug nuts, 12x1.25. i remember someone joking around about a broken kyokugen lugnut and putting the stock shift knob on it a long time ago

my mother is a machinist and she made a thread for me that fit into one of those push water faucet tops and now i have a chrome water faucet thing for my shifter and it looks great. if you want to, PM and ill get back to you with the exact size of the thread needed. i know that she will know since my threads are flawless.

Thumbs up

my buddy had one made at a place he works at on occasion. it is stainless steel, and i did not have them tap it; just drilled a hole large enough to fit peice of silicone tubing into it so it would be a perfect threading no matter what vehicle it is put on. will post pics later.

there is someone here in i-club that sells and adapter that will pretty much take any knob that is unirversally mounted by screwing those 3 screw on the sides (such as MOMO) and fit the knob using the fatory threads. Do a search for MOMO air-race knob or similar.
