Question Will a 2008 TD04 turbo fit on 2010 WRX?

Hi all!

I have been looking far and wide through Google, but I am unable to find this information anywhere. I have someone who is local and selling a used TD04 turbo from an 08 WRX. My buddy has a broken turbo on his 2010 WRX sedan and is looking for a cheap replacement so that he can continue to drive his car without killing it. Simply put, would the 08 TD04 fit on a 10 WRX sedan?

Thanks for all the help!

It's a much smaller turbo, and the car will have to be retuned. Why on earth would your buddy want to give up 50hp/tq?. Find a cheap 2010 replacement and save money/trouble.

You're not doing your friend any favors selling him a TD04.

First, I'm not selling it, and second, it's a temporary fix. The person is selling this turbo for $100, so it's not a big deal to him for a temporary fix. We've been looking for a 2010 replacement, but are unable to find one in his current price range. He doesn't mind the loss in power as long as he can drive the car as it's his daily.

As for the retune, I have a friend that's a tuner that said he'd do it for nothing if we do a road tune.

Well, best of luck, then.

Used VF52s on Ebay for barely more than that TD04, try searching harder.

This one was local and he didn't want to have to wait. We bought the TD04 locally on our classifieds, and today we're installing and hopefully tuning.

Edit: also, we're looking into an upgrade for his turbo as a permanent replacement as well. He's just saving up for that but needs something that won't completely kill his engine in the meantime.

Well, eventually you guys will learn it's better to have patience than to slap things on the car that were the cheapest possible thing you can find. As Dave said, good luck.
