I think he hated every second of it and took it out on the gearbox and front tires.

The Ascent's 260 hp is lower, but that 277 lb/ft at 2000 rpm will do wonders for driveability & hauling people whether in Ascent form or minivan. But, by the time Subaru gets around to making a minivan, I'll no longer need one. |

Our '15 Town and Country has 283 hp / 260 lb-ft NA. Never once found it lacking driveability. Maybe it's the FWD - too easy to spin tires already.
Had an Edge rental (2.0T, FWD I believe) and that thing would light up the tires in the front from 15-40 mph if there was even a touch of moisture on the roads. Probably needed better tires.. |

I can spin my front tires too, even with a throttle inhibitor in first gear, and quite often do when turning and accelerating, but I gotta rev to get the power. With the Ascent's torque hitting its peak so low, with AWD, it'll just go. No hesitation, no spinning, no throttle inhibitor, just go.
Even if there's a slight bit of turbo lag, it'll be better than my peak torque at 5200. |

In my Sedona, the middle row side seats flip the seat cushion forward while the seatback also moves forward, making a nice clear passage to the rear seats. The Ascent, like most other SUVs, leans the seatback and slides the seat cushion, leaving less room to pass through. Also, lower floor in minivan + deep well in the rear = more storage space. Edit: Well, maybe the Ascent isn't so bad for rear access: |
