Default what is needed to make avcs heads non avcs

i have been searching for a while now and either my search skills suck or the info isnt out there (im sure its my skills)

long story short
wrx with ej257 sb, the 2.0 heads are bad...
if putting on sti heads with avcs how do you correctly eliminate avcs? what cam gears/cams/things do you need to do?
this car is running an ecutek tuned oem ecu so adding the avcs isnt an option.

better off to get a a used set of wrx heads?

thanks
ted

quicker and easier to use wrx heads BUT if you want to use the sti ones. you need to plug the avc holes in the sti cams and reuse your wrx cam gears.

there might be more to it than just that so do a quick search and you will find numerous threads with accurate information on this topic.

You need to.. tap and plug the avcs holes in the cams, you need to leave the avcs solenoids in the holes, these allow oil to the front cam journals. You can run your wrx cam gears, you may need to buy a Cosworth cam sensor mount, unless you have early STI heads, they sometimes have the mount from subaru... That is everything, but I would just get wrx heads...

thanks for the more detailed explanation. wrx heads are not out of the question at the moment. its just that there are some sti heads local for reasonable price.

you can run the whole setup with the 2.5l and just get a cam angle sensor bracket.
no need to fiddle with anything else.
