I'm running naked myself, but I'm going to get a ptp blanket blanket and a coated grimmspeed shield when I put my new AVO tmic on.

The stock is better than the aftermarket ones from what I've heard due to the thickness of the metal and the way it is shaped. Probably not much of a difference though. The stock is very very easy to modify. Benefit to going aftermarket is that you can return to stock without it looking like you were stage 2 as much. Be careful running nothing at all, my friends paint is coming off right by his hood scoop directly above the turbo from doing this.

Well I live in Alaska so the ambient temperatures are so low it's not really an issue. Besides it's winter right now and I'm not usually on it very hard anyway.

On my last car I cut the stock heat shield with a dremel. Worked like a charm.

So I went and got the coolant ECU recall done and gave COBB the rom here: https://forums.cobbtuning.com/forums...Program-WQC-39. A '12 STI owner posted a stock rom with the recall update there too. Hopefully they can use the data to update their maps.
Sidenote, since this issue only affects 2011+ cars, I'm really glad we have a 2011+ discussion thread. |

Ok so I just bought a used cobb downpipe. The guy only had it on the car for 1000 miles. My question I have a spt exhaust on my 12 wrx with 8000 miles, do I need new gaskets for it? When you buy a downpipe new does it come with gaskets?

you can probably get away with using the stock gasket for the bottom, its a good idea to get a new gasket where it mates to the turbo since that one is much harder to change if its leaking

Yeah, get a new one for the turbo and you should be able to reuse the doughnut gasket.

you pretty much need to do the full 5x114.3 conversion with all the axles and such to make it work from what I've heard

No problem man, it's all about helping the community! I figured it was safer for me to collect the update for COBB since my car is otherwise stock rather than having a Stage 2 risk it.

Anyone else feel like the gear ratio for 4th and 5th gear in the 2011 WRX is odd? I feel like the 4th gear pulls much harder and longer than 5th? I feel like a fool for asking this and don't know if I'm describing it correctly but maybe someone will understand what I'm talking about.

5th is the final gear, you shouldn't be pulling in it unless you're already going like 120.

generally the lower gears will pull harder than higher ones...otherwise it would be hard to do things like, for example, moving

I don't know if its applicable for the gr's, the legacy 6 speed is usually much cheaper than the Sti 6 speed and the gears are more usable... We all know the Sti is geared for towing boats out of the water. |

I think newer wrx gears are already about the same as legacy gears
