Default Some people don't know much about subaru

This happen to me today...

Coworker: is that your Mustang out there
Me: no I don't own a Mustang...
Coworker: but he's parked in you spot...
Me: better be my Subaru
Coworker: Ohhh, maybe is a Subaru, a Mustang would have been nice....
me: just like a bullet in my leg would have been.... painful.

Some people.....

I had worse...today in fact!

I had my friend bitch at me because I drive an RS and he drives a Dodge Stratus. He was like "For that money I would never buy a Subaru," then I had to say "My parents wouldn't exactly let me get an RX-7." He still doesn't get it. He was considering renting a 6 cylinder Mustang for the prom. I tried to explain to him that a Mustang wasn't really cool car, but he's into the looks and wants to put a wing and rims on his car (again, a 6 cylinder Mustang loses). It's a shame his brother won't let him borrow his Mach 1 because that's a real Mustang... of course it wouldn't hold up to an STi!

I had an asshat from the local ford dealer tell me that my car(the engine) was 'missing'....several times....and that he'd 'go get' an SVT fokus to 'take care of' my stage4+ WRX ...I 'bout fell down laughing...and told him that he better bring a cobra or a GT40 instead...
And he was the bigwheel asshat at the dealer...the $xxxk/year guy......
I don't think he liked it much when I cut the wheel in the gravel and did a bit of a clutch dump and sprayed gravel all over his nice new frods with all 4 goin' either.....

There are a couple of people at my work that "complain" about my car. They say it attracts too much attention. Others say Subaru's are "crappy" cars. All I ever here is Honduh this, Honduh that. Those are good cars. But dont talk crap about my car when you dont have anything to back it up with. Some comments are from guys that think putting 8" roof racks or 5' tall aluminum air condition duct on the back is going to make a difference in their handling. Times like this I wish I had an STi. And a sign that read: "If you dont like it, how bout I give you a spoon so you can eat my a$$"

Try having an STi and having to explain the way wings work in flight to people almost daily.

"You know that big wing of yours moves around quite a bit (ahuyuk)"

"I know, it's supposed to do that, the important part is the lower section, the top is just the guide"

"What?"

"Have you ever been in an airplane? do you know anything about the mechanics of force as it relates to lift and downforces? The wing on an airplane moves because if it didn't it would have to weigh about 10 times more to be able to.... you know what f*ck it, yeah, it wobbles, I'm getting it looked at."

Over here just about every Subaru has a coffee can 'muffler' and RFL BOV, barring the odd Justy. People just knows better than to mess with you, or make any 'funnay' cracks. We've had turbocharged Imprezas in the market since MY'98 though, so more time for the masses to get used to the idea.

Someone at work one night asked me if that was my wrx all cracked up outside. I said "It better not be!" then they said it was a silver one and I said funny, I've never seen any other rexes at work. I leave at the end of the night and the cracked up car in question was none other than an ancient nasty Hyundai Accent...

my friend made a comment about her mustang (auto) being able to kill me without a prob, maybe they think every import has as much power as a civic.

i usually get this look when i tell people i have an Impreza

These old guys at work love my car. I let two of them test drive it and they love it. One of them has a 65 Mustang. Creamy white paint with red interior drool............My boss loves my paint. She said its glittery (java black).

On the other hand, my uncle said he wouldn't even pay 20k for that piece of crap. My mechanic uncle was bad mouthing Subaru and when I brought it over to his house he told me it was a nice car. My grandma asked me the other day how many cylinders I had. I told her I had 4 and she said it was slow.

Most of the world still thinks of the Subaru as the Outback. I know that were I live (YUPPIE North Baltimore) everyone has a Outback. There are 2 WRXs, and 2 OBSs, and and every second or third car after that is an outback.

For the most part, at least where I live, Subaru is the new Volvo for the modern Yuppie.

WHAAAAAAAAAAAT!?!?!?!!?

Try autoXing. I have results up from the latest autoXes in my cube as some people here at work autoX. People will walk by looking at the results for STX, and read that I beat an M3, and my car was 'faster' than a co-workers Supra TT.

After reading it I always hear "Man, he must have had a bad day to lose to you."

No respect.
