Default OMG...retail at CompUSA...lol

So, I ran over to CompUSA to get 5 network cables, since I didn't feel like building them and could justify getting out of the office for a few minutes.

Anyway, I get there and look at the cables on the shelves. Only Belkin, and only the stupid ones with "wings" near the end cap. Then I saw the price...

$19.95 for a 7ft cable

I was ready to punch the closest person in a red shirt right in the mouth...

So I go up to the business desk and ask if those are the only ones available and how she could sleep at night charging those prices. The rep says, "in store...yes...but that's not your price........your price is $4.14 per cable"...

OMG...I felt like walking back over to the aisle since there was another guy looking to get a cable for his house, and showing him my receipt...

It's an accessory. Accessories are the moneymakers in those types of stores. Accept it.

I worked for CompUSA when in college. All accessories were the margin makers. Your 6' IEEE1284 cable that retailed for 29.99 was actually 6.60 cost!

Paper, cables, surge protectors, etc are where the money's at. The PC's have less then 6% mark-up.

Yea, when we moved offices we ran out of patch cables for cubes so we ran down to CompUSA (no time to order since staff was moving the next day), and we wanted 50 cables 7' and 14'. Our corporate account had expired and they wanted about $20 a cable...luckily they agree to give us business pricing since we were buying so many.

Hard drives, monitors or anything like that we maybe get 1% off....but on cables it's like 8o-90%.

I got it for 45. more than 1/2 off!!
