Finished cleaning the interior with the carpet out, carpet is finally ready to go back in and then I can clean the rest of the pieces as they go back in the car. Got a new radio and speakers that will be here next weekend so I may just leave those bits out to install when they get here. Suspension also came in today so that will go in and I should be just about ready to pull the motor to change out all the gaskets and put the new clutch in.

Post some pics. I'm interested in what you think of it. Nice to have some inexpensive options.

Default AKIC - What has been done to your subaru today

Ok, I admit I have a problem... but this time I sucked Kiwi in, so technically I only owe 3 1/2 old Subarus.

Nice! I've been eyeing old Subies as a beater car and just something to tinker with. Good find!

So nice. Also been thinking about getting an old 2.5rs while I get my new block put in. Something about the classic subaru's.

Dropped my STI off at conti for a new shortblock due to failing an oil consumption test. Only had it.for a year with 20k miles. I think I'm done with STI until they move away from the EJ engine.

That's exactly where I'm at. I'm sorry about your STI. There are quite a few of us former STI owners who want to get another one, but only when it gets a new motor. Have you had other problems in the past?

BTW, I test drove a 2015 WRX yesterday. I put a short video of me driving it on IG, my name is chano_williams on there. Anyways, it's pretty smooth. Way better sorted out than previous generations.

I'm set on waiting for a new STI hatch. In the meantime, I think I might move on to the 2017 Impreza Sport 5-door. I'm seeing a need for something more practical and better for daily driving. Plus I think it looks great and is promising for the future design of the next WRX and STI. The current models are fairly ugly to me and I just don't want a sedan again.

I want a car that I won't feel too compelled to mod, at least until the new STI hatch is released.

My 15 WRX is 1000% better car IMO. I've had a lot of fun modding the car and for $10k less than an STI I definitely think I got my moneys worth. I;ve actually decided to try the new Forester XT's as they are using the same engine as the FA20 engine as the WRX and is, like you said a little more practical. Hopefully we can meet up sometime this week now that i'm off work.

Got another set of base 08 5 spoke STI wheels like the ones that were stolen off my car in September. gonna take the BBS off and throw them on the WRX for a bit while I trade in my STI.

Unfortunately I moved to northern New Jersey to Mahwah, right on the NY border and about 30 minutes from NYC, so I will not be able to meet up with you. :-( Provide pictures of your new car and I'll congratulate you from afar! Haha

I'd have to get a Limited 15+ WRX to really enjoy it. I like gadgets and fufu stuff, mostly because I have humans in my car and don't officially race it.

Hey Trox! I was born and raised in Anchorage. I'd been waiting for the opportunity to leave since my teens, but the more ideal situation came at the tender age of 31.

Anchorage is still the densest Subie populous, but the things these guys do to their cars here is bananas!

I'm really loving the other cars I see driving around here: BMW i8, Ferrari, McLaren, Lamborghini, Maserati, Tesla P90 (I test drove one), etc etc. Beautiful place, great location from the city.

Got the dash and console back in:

Driver side front and rear coilovers in :

Got the driver seat put back in and will be switching the car around so I can do the other two coilovers and then a short test drive around the block to get a feel. Next will be the new clutch kit and flywheel. Then it will be my commuter unless the motor starts leaking like crazy, then I will pull it and replace all the gaskets and keep on keepin on. Hopefully save some miles on the STI to make an attempt at holding it's value lmao. Will probably spring for a new windshield for it as well since it will be parked.
