Dearest SOA,
Id like to say thank you, and hope everything went as well as you hoped for the BRZ dealer launch here in NOLA, and ask, Is there a reason that both Subaru and Mitsubishi have punted on releasing details on whether the STI or EVO will be available for 2013? Is there some sort of stalemate going on, or pure coincidence? I plan on buying an STI around the first of the year, and would prefer to order a fresh model, and not go through the hassle of having to track one down after the model has been discontinued (albeit temporarily, if that is what ends up happening). And whats the deal with the BRZ STI? Help your buyers plan for their purchase!!!! It gets difficult to do shopping with so little information out there, and not to be negative, but I don't know if this should be perceived as a lack of solid decisions and organization, which would reverberate into the overall ownership experience. Thanks! |

I think it's fairly well accepted that you won't see an STI until late 2013.

Im actually hoping that they continue the current model for another year, I just find it coincidental that both Subaru and Mitsu have both announced new models for '14 but wont say anything on continuing the current models for another year. As I understand it, sales are up on both vehicles from the last two years, so to me it makes sense.

Any insight on a BRZ STI and any idea on timing? Could we see it next year?

Dear SOA, can you bring over the Legacy DIT to the US?!?!?
It's widely believed (around Subaru chat boards anyway) that one of the reasons for the slow sales of the Legacy GT was the lack of automatic (general public doesn't seem to want manuals). Also, the GT looks were too plain for a sporty model - too much of sleeper. Americans seem to want to advertise sportiness/aggressiveness. The 2013 refresh looks slightly more aggressive, more befitting of the GT. It's time to bring over the Legacy DIT with CVT (and manual, of course). Since the GT was relegated to a special order item for most dealerships, the general public had no idea that they were available. None on the lot = no sales (other than the educated few). If you had planned to eliminate it, you made all the right moves to kill it: no advertising, none on the lots, higher price than 3.6R, too soft for sports car nuts, etc. Just make it a Legacy STI and you'll create demand. |

I just have a simple question and I would like to know why the forced induction cars do not come with forged pistons as it would benefit both the community and SOA. The costs incurred by warranty repairs would outweight the cost of putting in $400 forged pistons in the vehicles.

SOA Blog - It would be absolutely fantastic if Subaru could use a better method of recording MPGs on the trip computer. It is consistently reading ~2MPG optimistic. Same results on my 08 STI and my 12 Impreza. Everyone has this issue! Perhaps Subaru wants you to think you're getting better gas mileage?
My wife's CR-V is accurate within .1-.2 MPGs. |

On top of that it records in .3 increments. Why not do .1 increments? |

SOA Blog,
How did Subaru manage to muster 40% improvement in suspension for the 2013 Legacy and Outback? Where was all of that improvement hiding? Does Subaru chalk it up to tricks learned from the development of the BRZ? I haven't heard anyone around here bring it up, but I also don't frequent the Legacy forums, either. Thanks! |

Could you share with us which autoshows the new Forester and WRX will be unveiled at? I'm curious about the Forester since it is going on sale in Japan in the near future. I'm assuming the WRX will be at the show in NYC like years past.
I'm not looking for the Top Secret details of the two models, just where to see them first. Thanks |

Hello SOA Blog
I was curious about the Active AWD system used on the CVT Subarus. Subaru-Global states the Active AWD System distributes the torque 60:40 front to rear. Is this the same system Active AWD System offered in the US market? http://www.subaru-global.com/tec_awd.html Thank You |

Me? I guess with 40% improvement I was expecting a bit more substantial wording than "uprated suspension and thicker sway bars." I'll be honest in saying that I'm not positive what "uprated" would entail, but since you don't want to get technical, I'm satisfied with the answer given if it's the best I'll get.
I could research the difference in sway bars if there's someone out there that's checked out the 2013 Legacy/Outback, but the suspension info will probably never be broken down. There may have been a chance if there was a 2013 2.5 GT, but there isn't, so I'm hard-pressed to imagine someone being enthusiastic about getting technical with what 40% improved suspension REALLY involves. Subaru is known to do little things like that, though, with little to no explanation and any enthusiast should know this by now. Speculation is our speciality! |

It's one of those things where I was curious, but I don't care enough for the model enough to research the specifics because the model doesn't affect me personally. I appreciate it, sir. |

SOA Blog, what was the main reason the Legacy GT was discontinued here in the US?
I suspect that it's due to dropping the automatic version, which greatly reduced the target market, causing demand to drop. What are the chances of the GT coming back with the new Legacy GT DIT being released in Japan? I, for one, would love to see the GT back, even if it was only with the new CVT. I know there are some purists who would hate the thought of no manual transmission in a GT, so you could bring back the Spec.B 6-speed so it can handle the 297 hp in the Legacy GT DIT. But that last part should probably go in Suggestions to SOA... |

The 2013 Legacy added a slightly more aggressive look which might have been better accepted by the sporty crowd. Maybe the GT just wasn't differentiated enough from the vanilla Legacy to make it worth the extra investment. |

SOA Blog, it was mentioned that the next generation WRX/STI will split off the Impreza platform, is this still the intention? Can we expect both models to come out the same year? If you can't remark I understand... I just want to mentally prepare for my next STI.
