Default Rally San Antonio, San Marcos, Austin

Copied from an earlier thread. So whose going?

"I have 14 acres north east of the San Marcos airport. I have access to an articulating loader and one of my neighbors has agreed to bring his tractor over to disk and compact the ground to prepare to course. I have invested 100s of hours working land in the Austin / San Marcos area trying to help bring Rallycross to central Texas. I would much prefer for someone else to pick up this torch and run with it but I guess that is not going to happen.

So who is interested in doing a Rallycross?

Dave is still planning on doing his rally school but I am guessing that he and I are in the same boat. Not much room for anything else till after Pikes Peak.

The News from Rally Ranch has been quiet for a while. I'm not sure if they are still interested in doing this.

I have been feeling some pressure from some of the local Texas State students to move forward with this. I don't have a lot of spare time to put into this before Pikes Peak but that doesn't mean we can't get the ball rolling.

This Saturday the 30th we will have some people out trying to clean up the land a bit and brainstorm some course possibilities. This is also the day of the San Marcos annual biplane fly in so there should be some eye candy in the sky. 1116 FM 1984 Maxwell TX 78656 if you want to check it out."

I am 110% slammed this weekend on the Pikes Peak car but everybody should go lend a hand. There are a number of sites we're developing for RallyX down here, a series in 2012 is not out of the question.

And to reiterate from the other thread, the rally school will be open in July. More official info to come when I don't have my head firmly wrapped around a mountain in Colorado.

I would so love to help if i wasn't over 300 miles away at the moment. Are you going to have other dates when you are doing this in May?

I'm in Dallas but will be down for the first rally school and will be at every rallycross event once this gets going! Keep us posted on your progress.

I'd love to rally cross the Spyder, I think it would be fun... getting the dirt out of the cockpit afterwards... still worth it, lol.

Seriously, if there is a rallyx series in Austin, I would at least try one event, maybe more. Would definitely be an incentive to look for jobs in that area after graduation.

I didn't see this thread in time to make it out on the 30th. My Subaru is put back together though, so I'll come out to future events!
