![]() Ok this isnt for me but applies to any car. My buddies S13 is running 14k/12k springs front and rear on JIC Magic coilovers. My question is since his dampers are now totally blow would going down to the 5K springs F/R he already has laying around make them ride any better until he can get them rebuilt?

![]() Riding on springs that stiff and blown dampers is just asking for trouble. Get it fixed.
That said, I suppose softer springs would make his problem "smaller" so to speak. But, why go to the trouble and expense of changing springs and getting an alignment? It'll still suck. Get it fixed!!! |

![]() I know that rebuilding them is the only way to fix the problem. He just blew all his cash on a GT35R setup. Its easy as hell to change the spring on coilovers that why he wanted me to ask around.

![]() It depends on how blown "blown" is. Are they bleeding oil and are totally outgassed? Then no, doesn't matter what you put on there, you have no damping. So how blown is "blown"? What characteristics does the car exhibit that makes him think they are blown? for example, when driving down the road do his wheels continue to jump up and down after every bump? Or does he see a bit of fluid leak? Has he pulled the struts and pushed and pulled on the damper to see if there is any resistance?

![]() All four corners are leaking, and have been for awhile now. And its starting to bounce after every bump more and more.

![]() Just buy a stock S13 suspension for $nothing until you can get the JIC's rebuilt.

I agree. Just get something cheap to him over and get the JIC's rebuilt. If he wants to go a step further...get something other than JIC as a replacement. |
