Wow good for you, and I sit here and complain about my 13 mile trek to work Ah Midwest man, now I know why you have some sensibility about your car's stance. Any idea on what year of XT (Forester, Outback?) are you leaning toward?

If you don't mind an automatic then you'll have no problem finding one for a good price! I searched a long time for my FXT 5spd, and almost caved on auto because there were so many good deals on them at the time.

I wouldn't mind an automatic at all, since the wife has been putting some miles on the leggy aswell, we would take turns with the forester on who drives it.

Can't go wrong with an FXT then. A nice, comfortable, auto DD that can still throw you back into your seat sounds like a good route to go in.

Is there a way to have them set up as a regular tail light primarily, then (if needed) as a rear fog light when front fogs turned on?

Are your quad tips painted black or have you just not washed them since 'nam?

Here are the same rear LED's that rose has. Video of mine to see them in action. I have them wired up so they get brighter when braking and dim down like everything else.
