Default 1/2" Air Line Regulator / Filter compatible with 1/4" Compressor outlet? Pics inside

Bought an air compressor wrongly listed as 1/2" outlet, in reality it is 1/4".
Thinking I was getting a 1/2" outlet compressor I bought a 1/2" air line regulator/filter. Will I have any issues?, ie, pressure drop due to large 1/2" internal in regulator/filter? Plan is to get a fitting reducer from 1/2" to 1/4".

1/4" Outlet Compressor

1/2" Filter/Regulator

nope, you will be fine. just put a pipe reducer fitting on it and call it a day. i am surprised that there isnt a tank fitting you could come off of so you could use your 1/2" from that.
but on my 80ga 2stage setup the main line is 1/4" and i have a feed off the tank thats 1/2"
both seem to work great for everything i do at home, from air tools to plasma cutter.

I could replace the tank plug and replace with a 1/2" plug/nipple but I would also have to replace the switch box as it is 1/4".

Thanks for chiming in.

is there no plug on the side? if the only spot is where its allready hooked up. leave it at 1/4 and get a pipe adapter to fit your reg. then keep it at 1/2 the rest of the way.

Thank you, no side plug this is a 26gallon tank. ended up getting 1/2x1/4 adapters and hi-flow fittings (hi-flow offer 4x larger ID than conventional and are same as ID as the 1/4 compressor nipple).

Northern or Harbor Freight do not carry the hi-flow fittings (T type), found'em @Lowe's.

SCHRADER TWIST-LOCK

By far my favorite coupler. Our entire shop is plumbed with these. No leaks, no unintended disconnects and high flow.

If you use these at home, you don't ever have to worry about some one using your air tools and not bringing them back. A adapter is nice to have made up and on hand when you do want to loan them out or use them else where.

Just be prepared to spend some cash if you need a bunch at first.
