Went on a drive today and stopped by one of my favorite spots (Eagle River). Then we went to the airport for some spotting but as you can see in the picture, that was a no go.

Just drove up to anchorage from juneau yesterday. Man what a beautiful drive.

Recommend a tint place?

I heard about an ice track on the big Lake about an hour out of town. Anyone have any experience?

Gonna drive up tomorrow and check it out.

CCA Motorsports is the only place for perfect tinting at good pricing. Had several of my Subies done there, along with many members here, plus other friends and family. Call up Chris or Drew, tell them Chano says hi (I moved away last April). 907-334-8088 :-)

Glad you made it to Anchorage! It's pretty much the Subie capital of the world!

CCA motorsports is the one that's done my Mercedes and all my Subarus. I choose not to take it elsewhere solely on the quality of the job they do.

There's a course on the ice that is raced on in the winter, some have participated on. I've only gone for a ride-along during, but it was pretty fun. Not quite something you can just drive up on the ice and go NASCAR on though.

CCA motorsports it is.

The ice course was good. It was nice to work the limitations of the car. Recomended for any 2015+ to get to know how the active tourqe vectoring works.

Hi everybody! My name is Ray, and I'm a transplant from a much warmer environment, would any of you be so kind as to tell me what sort of condition the roads might be in between Anchorage and Fairbanks when I go pick up my WRX from Continental? Those pictures are awfully depressing, and man does it look cold.

Well, sort of. My home is in Alaska now, I am currently 12 time zones away from there. I'll be in Alaska in March though.

Ah cool. Well, sort of welcome!

In March there will still be lots of snow and ice, so you'll need snow tires on your WRX.

Lawd, I was really hoping that the snow would have melted or found it's way to set of Deadliest Catch or something so I wouldn't have to deal with it.

That's why I left after 30 years of being in it! Here on the east coast the snow is mostly absent and is guaranteed to be gone by March anyway. In Alaska the snow could stay until May. Doubtful, because it's been warming up a lot, but it's possible.

You could be in luck and there might be little snow like previous years. This winter has been ok. April is when I started cycling last year. Like Chano said, snow tires are a must in AK.

Yeah, I put Blizzaks on the Outback, I was really hoping to not have to fool with it on the WRX until next winter. Thank you all for your replies.
