I'd imagine parts alone would be super pricey... Does a harness for this exist (power folding + signal + heated)?

Thanks in advance.
Japan parts has all the pieces.

1. Power folding motors and switch
2. Painted caps and LED strips
3. Entire STi/S4 mirror assembly for a direct swap

From what I've read they are not painted, just a satin white finish. I thought about going unpainted since I have a CWP and it would be hard to tell, but opted to just pay the extra $40 for painted caps from Japan Parts.

Yeah I saw the whole kit on japan parts. But I wasnt sure how they wired into a USDM WRX, specifically the motors and switch.

Has anyone tried it?

But according to the pictures, the white color is pretty glossy, not satin at all!!
anyone can confirm ??

it's just unpainted plastic; i don't really think you'd want to leave it that way.

i don't believe there is wiring in the harness for it. if you look at the pinouts, it's not immediately apparent what pins you'd use to swing the powered mirrors out. not to say it's not possible but it seems you'd have to tap some lind of voltage/signal from elsewhere to make it work. part of the problem is that you'd have to figure out how the folding mirrors work. do they stay open as long as voltage is applied? or do you have to send an 'open' and a separate 'close' signal?

CORRECTION: there IS wiring in the factory harness. i was thinking of something else. it looks like it would plug right in! From http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...7&postcount=81

With heated mirrors:
1 - Signal (+) (white)
2- Folding(out) (brown)
3- Common (blue)
4- Heat (black)
5- Signal (-) (green)
6- Folding (in) (grey)
7- Up/Down (pink)
8- Right/Left (purple)
9- **Unused**
10- Heat (black)

As you can see the car is wired to send a signal to open and close the mirrors. i bet it would work with no mods. It looks like those japanese folding mirrors have the integrated turn signals as well; i assume that'd work too; shouldn't need any extra harnesses since the japanese folding mirrors seem to be designed to hook up directly to the plug in the door given the pinouts in the harness.

Awesome, thanks for that. I may give it a shot, would be a cool mod. There's also an auto fold module which folds the mirrors automatically when the ignition is off.

Gonna be pricey but I may do it.

If you do, let us know. It's kinda risky but it has a good chance of being plug and play. And if for whatever reason the pinouts don't match, the mirror side connector can always be reconfigured to match the connection in the door.

I don't think all sets come in that white color FYI. I have a set of brand new caps and they are a grey/beige color with the same part number. Photos are a touch dark but you get the idea.

I don't need them any longer. I've already done the conversion so if anyone wants these, make me an offer:

Sorry to revive a thread but i want to make sure I have this right.

I have a Limited 15 wrx. If I buy the caps and the lamps what else would I need? Can I just tap the existing harness? I read and re read the thread but I got lost somewhere around page 8. Any help would be great.

Thanks

I just got all the parts and will be installing this weekend. I got the painted caps from https://www.japanparts.com/parts/detail/45591 and the LED fixtures and screws you can get from any US Subaru dealer:
84401AJ010 - LAMP ASSY TURN SDLH - $67.50
84401AJ000 - LAMP ASSY TURN SDRH - $67.50
91039AJ500 - MIRROR REPAIR SCR (Qty 4) - $3

I bought the (needed) LED wiring harness from http://www.defroy.org/products.html

Ma2Wrx - The URL that ghrays posted is my website. The 'Mirror Mod' tab contains instructions, a clear list of everything you need, and of course the harness you need to do it. It's basically everything you need from this thread in one easy-to-understand place, including the shopping list. You don't actually NEED the harness to do it but if you want to do it properly and safely (weatherproof), it's the way to go. The alternative isn't pretty. You don't want to splice into your door wiring, trust me! The harness is based on Power6's design - with Power 6's help, I started to build them for people who needed them since Power6 doesn't make them anymore.

Sorry it's not more clear - i can't actually post a link to my own site b/c i'm not a vendor here so i must depend on others to get the word out for me. Thanks ghrays for sharing the site. All i can say is...these harnesses have been more popular than I ever expected. I sold as many harnesses in the last 6 weeks as i sold the first 6 months. It's to the point where if i'm hanging out watching TV, i'm building harnesses if I have the parts. It's actually kind of time consuming but I'm so honored to have been able to help so many people with this mod!!

I appreciate it. I got confused when people were talking about the motor harnesses and puddle lights (which would be cool) I am looking forward to this and your video was great. I just wanted to double check before i spent money on this.

Thank you

ah yes i can see why that would get a little confusing. glad to help.

one thing though, i wanted to clarify that clamsjager actually made the video; that was before the harnesses actually existed; he rigged the mod w/o the harnesses. that's why I say that the video is very helpful but when it comes to actually wiring it up, you'll want to refer to my website for details.

without Power6 and clamsjager's help, I don't know that I would have just dived into this - they provided all the pieces that I was able to put together to make this work.

Update: One of my customers made me aware of this great video showing the install process using my harness. Thought it might help others: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zp9Y...ature=youtu.be

So glad you got yours installed. I agree; it's straightforward and such a great upgrade. Adds a premium feel to the car, IMO.

the mod costs 325 or 400 depending on how you get the replacement mirror caps. the first post has a link to my site with all the details/instructions. See also post 262.

Totally random bump, but for anyone who has done this mod, are your mirror turn signals and bumper turn signals in synch w each other? I noticed for the first time in the reflection of a car in front of me that mine aren't. They ARE however in synch when I arm the alarm on the car and the signals flash. Weird.

i haven't noticed this; is it perhaps because they are LED and the bumpers have filament bulbs? this means the LEDs would appear to come on first and turn off a bit faster. Since the rise time on LEDs is instant but isn't for filament bulbs, perhaps it could appear to be 'off'?. i have VLEDs V3 triton LED turn signals on my car with the TapTurn relay and mine are in sync - they all blink at once.

the fact that it IS in sync when you arm the alarm...that's just weird and negates what i was suggesting above. maybe it's just the blinker relay? still doesn't make sense though.

I'm interested in doing this mod with my '12 limited Impreza (not WRX). After reading the thread, it seems the painted covers, led turn, and heat will work on the Impreza. How about the auto-dim and the power folding? I do have the auto dimming mirror with homelink.

EDIT: Maybe I'm looking at this wrong. The other Impreza OEM LED thread (http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show....php?t=2468495) mentions Forester mirrors. I think I've read too many threads and confused myself lol. Looking to enable as many features as possible with the mirrors.

for the 12 limited impreza you probably need to look in another thread. The doors and mirrors are pretty different between the model years
