Default Help! Advice for an '08 Impreza lift?

I just bought a 2008 Impreza Wagon 2.5i. It’s as stock as stock gets. I’m a bit worried that it’s so low that I’m going to wreck it on some back road or become a snow plow in the winter, so I’m set on lifting it. I’ve seen a few threads discussing this, but none that answered my questions well. The helpful ones I found only applied to Imprezas through ‘07, so I’m hoping for some more applicable information here. I was not able to find anything on DirtyImpreza, etc.

I originally wanted to lift it 2” using a lift kit. I found 1” spacers from Paranoid Fabrications, a 1.5” kit from Subtle Solutions, and a 2” kit from Anderson Design & Fabrication, then some friends suggested using struts from a Forester. From what I found, I believe this would actually be a legitimate option as well. However, after spending hours doing research, I’m still left with so many questions…
  1. What else would be needed with spacers (rear alignment kit, etc.)?

  2. What else would be needed with Forester struts (control arms, swaybar, etc)?

  3. Which Forester models would be compatible (It seems that the ‘09 is, but the tophats are incompatible; if that’s the case, how can that problem be fixed)?

  4. What problems can a lift cause and how can they be prevented (axle wear, etc.)?

I am not trying to put on larger tires though, at least not yet. I really just need this laid out simply for me, if possible.

Please also share your opinions on spacers vs. Forester struts and mention anything else worth noting.

I apologize if these seem like dumb questions. My car-hobbyist friends will be helping execute the project, but I didn’t want to stick them with the research, as they do mostly classic restoration and mods like this aren’t their usual thing.

Any and all feedback is appreciated!! Answering even half of one question is helpful -- Thank you
