I recently picked up a 2008 STI hatchback. It didn't come with an accessport, I haven't had any time yet, cuz I've only had it for a couple of days, to really look under the hood and check out what if any upgrades have been made... I haven't seen any thing obvious, I plan to have my buddy to help me give it a look through this weekend. It's easy enough to see that it has an Invidia Cat-Back exhaust so that's a no-brainer. I do not know if it was pro tuned previous to getting it from the used car dealer I picked it up from.

So, anyways here's my issue, it ran perfectly fine initially, day two I picked up an accessport. In order to install it you have to pick at least one map so initially I was told that I should be fine running the stage 2 even having little knowledge of what parts may be on it. So I did apply the stage 2 map for a bit for about 50 or so miles on the freeway but it seemed a little more sluggish than it had before. So I un married to access port figuring that because the accessport backs up the ECU before re flashing it, that should revert it to any protune that may have existed and get me back to normal.

However, since doing so it now has what feels like a slight miss at idle and isn't quite running the same as when I first picked it up. I've had it for about 5 days and driven it probably close to 700 miles. I tried to also put it on stage one thinking maybe that could help if stage two wasn't quite right thought I would give it a shot see if that changed anything, it did not, didn't make it better or worse, now I'm freaking out. LOL.

Also I must unfortunately report that my cousin in a parking lot, don't know how he managed to but didn't see the parking hump curb whatever you want to call it in front of him and drove right up over it, it was a long one so he's fairly confident that it hit all frame on the bounce down and did not high center it, my car is not low enough. I've looked under and can't see an obvious signs of damage. I'm wondering if maybe that could be part of an issue or maybe it messed something up in the process I'm not sure.

Sorry for the obnoxiously long post, I'm just trying to be as thorough as possible.

Thanks in advance!

Understand what's all done to the car before you start flashing/changing maps. That will just give you a headache and possibly more troubles like you are experiencing now.

While you are inspecting the car, I'd also go ahead and do your basic maintenance if that hasn't already been done. Oil, plugs, filters, boost/vac leak check, etc. Once that is done, then flash the appropriate map and see if you still have issues. If so, proceed to diag.

At this point you are kind of shooting in the dark.
