After talking to the news media I doubt this guy will get off any easier in court (be sure to watch the video of the story):

He swapped in a h22a from a Honda Prelude. That makes the car a monster.

Saw this on FARK earlier.

Stupid kids will be stupid kids.

I dunno, I took my WRX up to that speed when I first got it... it was on a nice straight empty highway in the middle of a sunny day, so I could see I was as safe as possible. Still not a good idea, but us young people do dumb things.

He put a Prelude engine in it. That VTEC will get you up to around 35,000 mph last I heard. Drag limited, of course.

Any car around 3000 lbs and around 200hp can go that fast (assuming it's not shaped like a brick)... it just takes a really long time.

A bone stock WRX is reported to go 144, areo limited. I've had mine to about 120, but once you get over 100, pulling in 4th becomes a long procedure... you run out of racetrack pretty quickly.

im guessing it weighed around 2600lbs and probably had a modified h22 engine. 220hp maybe?

That's probably a pretty fast car. 'Course it looked like there was a cage in it, so it might not be quite that light.

Gee, wonder why other drivers would be throwing crap at him? I would have liked to have thrown a glass bottle in front of his tires just to see him crash and DIAF. Eliminate this kid from the genepool and we'd all be better off.

Well, it's not up to the cops, it's up to the prosecutor.

You know that they used media interviews in the prosecution of Scott Pederass, right?

The media can write whatever they want. It doesn't make it fact. If you're stupid enough though to give an interview and make an admission, then you've got a huge ordeal to try to prove that you were being dishonest. Usually, they don't use the media because people are at least smart enough not to tell them what they did.

Now, I could go tell the media that I drag race all day long, by school zones. The cops can't arrest me for it until they can prove that I did it...which will take more than just me saying that(i.e. a witness, some type of evidence, etc...).

Showing someone "smoking a joint" is not evidence they were smoking marijuana. Prove it wasn't tobacco!

But remember also that after the OJ riots, several perps were arrested and convicted for violent acts caught on news cameras. a video of a violent act is prima facie evidence, a video of alleged drug abuse is not.

Send him to "pound me in the ass prison". Sure, it's just speeding and he did'nt hurt anyone, but by his picture in the story, he'd make some some good man-wife. Now that's comedy.

He lives in Oregon, couldn't the Torque freak find a piece of highway without speed limits?
