Question JDM EJ205 Q's

Hello,

I am new to the thread and am purchasing a '02 WRX with the JDM motor swap. I was actually in the shopping for an '05 STI but found a great deal so the STI will come later in life. But the concern I have for buying a car already modified is that I wont be "in tune" with the car as I would be if I started the car from the ground up. I did try a few searches but they werent successful.

My question is. Can someone point me to a site that would give general info on the JDM motor. Such as piston, rod, crank construction, power output, possibly any know problems. I need to educate myself on this new car. Please help.

In His grip,
Nathan

With out knowing anything about the WRX you are looking at my guess is you will be much happier with an STi. If you let us know more about what is done to the WRX then we might be able to help you better.

The main differences between the JDM EJ205 and the USDM EJ205 are AVCS and the JDM has higher compression. A lot of the power difference is better fuel, but it puts out 250chp and lbs tq. in stock form. Much more torque then the USDM and a wider power band.

Find out what JDM motor was installed and this will slim down your search for your engine specs. Find out who did the swap for the previous owner, and make sure they do good work(no hacked up wiring). The more you know, the better off you'll be.

Hope this helps,
Greg
