Default ANother "what kind of power should I expect" thread.. Yeah I know...

ok so I have my cams, The short block is at the shop, and the pistons are on order. Just waiting for Crawford to forge me up a set..
I am wondering what kind of power I will be looking at when I get this thing back. I am going to do a BIG turbo at some point in the next couple months, but only after the tranny/clutch are done. SO I am looking for some idea of what this combo will be like until then...

USDM STI 2.5 shortblock
Crawford swap pistons, forged, yeilds 8.1 to 1 compression
Crower stage 2 cams, (see below chart for cam specs)
WRX heads, untouched
VF22
STI pink injects (I know, will need larger asap, will run lower boost for now)
UTEC
Walbro
perrin short ram

Now going on what I have seen from swaps without cams, there is about a 20whp and 60-70 ft/lb gain from the swap, but thats with 8.6-1 compression, so I know I am looking at a bit less, which I am willing to give up for the added reliability (at least in theory) from the basically stock compression (which should yeild a better detonation threshhold) And I also have seen cars gaining 50-60ft/lbs from cams alone, yet running less boost than before.

SO, with all this crap in mind, does anyone have ANY idea what to expect???

At least 220whp

Seriously you need to get your anxiousness over this build out in some other manner. Go running, swimming, post in OT or something.

Dude you will probably max this thing out...310-320whpish on a dyno jet on pump and 330-340whp ish on a dyno jet on c-16 are my guesses. (might be on high side, but i figured you'd rather hear that anyway)

You think I am anxious you dont know the half of it. This wait is KILLING ME. At least its 100% now... No more deciding.

Then after I do the tranny/clutch, you guys get to start hearing my "which turbo am I going to buy" stressing out posts

BTW 310-320 on a dynojet would be LESS power than the 2.0 made on stock cams, so I think thats a bit low (Thats if I am figuring right, the dynojet reads 20-30whp or so lower than teh dyno at txs in md right?)

If i where u i would also invest in some heads...the stock WRX heads are not that great, if u get the 98RS heads they will outflow ur curent heads, and if u do minor work to the head your car will be mutch faster. The head has more effect on how a car performs over any other part on the engine...this however is a pritty penny, at least 800 with work(porting, polishing, bigger valves) and heads.

All a port job is going to do is move his power band to the right, and with using a vf22 that means very little gain.

yeah, but he did mention that he wanted to get a bigger turbo. so the port job will be perfect(if he chooses the right turbo)

If you are expecting more then 310whp you are gonna be disappointed. You should make a boat load of torque. Small turbo, small port heads and big engine makes lot of torque.....not lots of hp.

Boat load of torque will do for now I know the 22 is a HUGE limiting factor on this motor.

Because of financial reasons, head work is 100% out of the question. The cams will take care of the head flow portion.

Really, when my car was in top shape, it made 309whp, I was basically happy with that, but it didnt have enough torque for me. This was 309 onTXS's dyno, which reads notoriously high. I would to be making 300+ on almost all dyno's Or basically about 20-25more whp than I did before, but really, if I made the same whp, with another 50ft/lbs of torque, I will be incredibly happy. This is speaking of while using the VF22.

Once I do the tranny/clutch and get the new turbo, I am looking for a solid 350whp on pump. WIth my daily driving map right at or about 300whp.
Really what I want is 320-330 ft/lbs to the wheels.

What would be ideal?
