2000 Fully built RS with 2.3L destroked $20,000
2000 2.5RS
Pics >> https://photos.app.goo.gl/XYfsBwA1GLs5EiVC6 This car is a flat-out hoot to drive thanks to a fully built 2.3L engine, light weight, grippy handling, tuned coil overs and eye bulging braking. It rides like a go kart and is happy to go as briskly as you dare. I have had pure joy driving the mountains roads of Montana. When I bought it 10 years ago it had gone through a full rebuild.. I drove it until at about 130,000 the lower bearings gave out when giving it juice on an on ramp. That was 2020. I took it to its maker and affiliate shop in Washington, Tier One and Dominic Acai. At that time Covid hit and the car was in the shop for a year waiting for parts etc. I had them look at everything closely to equip for another run on a new build. After talking with Dominic I chose to go with the 2.3 L and upgraded to the more configurable Link ECU for more headroom for present and future tunes and upgrades. When I got the car back and after the break-in miles I gave it a pull at higher speeds and the engine ran lean. I took it back and after a thorough look through the conclusion was that the fuel system was not keeping up. A dual pump setup and new fuel system components was recommended. The tune was adjusted to run rich to keep it cool. At this point I ran out of discretionary budget (I put about 24k into the rebuild and various upgrades) and my kids are about off to college. The car now has about 135k miles on it. The cluster is out of a 2001 RS because someone smoked the factory cluster when someone was doing the red dash conversion prior to my purchasing it. Therefore, indicated mileage is over the actual chassis mileage. However, none of the wear items are factory anymore so it's kind of moot. Regardless, it has been garaged its entire life. The original owner kept it in a garage and so have I. The car is a complete build. This car brings together all the best parts of Subaru. Drive by cable, 2.3L of displacement, 6 speed, best body style, coupe, JDM seats, GTX Turbo etc. This car is a lot of fun. Drive Train: 2005 STi transmission with 07 STi 1st through 4th and Spec B 5th and 6th. RPM on the freeway is around 2500rpm at 60mph. The DCCD was removed and a viscous center from the spec B was installed. this is a great mod for swapped cars as you don't have to worry about DCCD controllers and snow performance is superior. The front diff is still the LSD that came in the 05 STi. Rear End is R180 from an 07 STi. Hubs are 04 STi 5x100 Front drives shafts: inner shafts are 2005, outer shafts are 2000. Agreed, very nice. The condition of this car makes my GC and GM look like they belong in a junkyard. Glad to see one of these in this good shape given the age of the car and extreme amount of salt or magnesium chloride that some states throw down on the road. Also, I thought it was just me, but now I see it is a feature of the material on first gen Impreza seats to be magnetic to white pet hair.
Would just put a thermal blanket around the turbocharger and call it a day. |
