02 WRX OEM CD Changer jammed

So my CD player jammed. If I hold down eject for 5 seconds, it just beeps. Can't play CDs, can't switch CDs, can't even go into CD mode.

My local Subaru dealership says it's not common for this to happen.

NASIOC forums say otherwise.

Does anyone have instructions on how to remove the CD player from the dash and how to properly open it?

Dealership says its not under warranty (BS!) and wants to charge me $73/hr and the price for it to be replaced.

Any help would be appreciated.

wow $73 an hour... thats steep. I can tell you how to take it out but as far as removing the cd's, i have no idea. If you are around asheville NC, I will take out the old one and put in a new one, but I dont know how to take the thing apart.

dude that happened to mine less than 3 DAYS after I bought it. They replaced it free no questions asked and sent me my cd's a few weeks later.

And you think that's bad...now it's been 4 months....I noticed slot 4 was open so I put a cd in. Went in...all good....was driving waiting for it to play....looked down...still no cd in 4. I was like..what the crap. So I ejected all the cd's at once....5 cd's came out...not the one that was in slot 4. So I loaded 6 cd's at once to see if slot 4 would take another one....it did.....SO....it ATE my damn cd. Must not like alice in chains or something.

Weird.
Yeah so I decided to put a screen in right there and get myself a trusty alpine deck to go where the clock is...just need a guage pod now.
