Default Air recirculation meter(s)?

edit: can someone just explain what these items are?

I found this which may be helpful. I'm reading it now.

Just found one of the answers in there.

Ok so the valve right at the throttle body, on the driver's side, is an idle air control solenoid valve which sends air past the throttle body at idle. It does this because the throttle plate is closed. That's fine by me.

But at idle, it also sends air into the thing in the second picture I posted to little air valves under the injector. Also connected to the little air valves is the thing in the first picture I posted. The other line on that goes back into the manifold after the throttle body. What in the world is that doing?

I think we should fly over to Japan, and kick some ass. These stupid emission things are pissing me off.

I know the air recirculation is to help fuel atomize better, as stated in the PDF, so maybe that first thing is just a return of some sort, set up so it's closed when the car isn't at idle, like the second thing you posted.

Where was the first thing on the car?

I would assume its to just atomize at idle, that's all. The electrical signals tell it when to open and shut. I am just going to get rid of it all 'cause all the other models don't have it.

Does that thing really inhibit us from using different injectors? It sounds like there's just an air valve by the tip of the injector, I don't see how that's preventing us from using certain injectors.

Does the first thing go directly to the second thing, or to the injectors? (first thing, second thing, hehe)

I'm guessing it's just for idle emissions also.

They're on each side of the injectors. One is on the solenoid side and one is on the manifold side.

I wish that I knew what you guys were talking about when you say first thing and second thing, but the pics on this thread are not showing for me.
Anyway, for the injector assist, one line off the valve (input) runs up to the throttle body where it gets air from in front of the throttle plate, and the output from the valve goes down to the manifold where the air is channeled to the tips of the injectors. This damned thing does limit you from using some other injectors (like WRX injectors) because the channels for the air take up some space so the bore where the tip of the injector has to seal is smaller. Yes it is to atomize the fuel better which is good if you are running stock injectors, but if you want to upgrade it can become a pain. When I did the WRX injector install I just replaced my manifold w/ a ’99 which does not have the injector assist.
Was that at all helpful?

I have to reset my ip with the DNS servers, it may take an hour or two to refresh. Stupid DHCP.

Edit: Doh, my router went down and messed up my DMZ host settings. It's back up.

PunKidd - The RC 440 injectors I have do not even reach the air assist holes, the main body of the injector sits right on top the manifold bores. With the o-rings from the stockers in between of course.

I know there are some other people running around w/ the same thing. My only concern w/ doing that on mine was that the fuel might not atomize as well if it had to spray down the bore and not right into the air stream.

That's what I thought, but a guy at RC said the vacuum in the chamber would put the fuel out from there just fine. He said Tom at PSI Turbo Performance(Ludespeed) did the same thing for 3 months and it worked just fine.
