According to the other posts I've seen it looks like if you're doing bulbs you'll need:
8 (+/- 2) size 74 bulbs for the Instrument Panel
1 (+/-1) size 74 bulbs for the Keyring
2 (+/-2) size 194 bulbs for the HVAC
As for the stereo/CD changer - I'm not sure... I'd like to do all the lighting with either bulbs or condoms, just to try to keep consistent lighting. Any guesses on the size of the stereo bulbs? I'll try to search some more....

I did my stereo, HVAC, and keyring with blue condoms from parts express. I have yet to finish the fog/cruise switch. They are not as bright as the green, but they are still pretty visible. they are more of an aqua blue.

here is a picture, sorry about the low quality, I took it on my phone. They are actualy brighter than they look.

Sweet. I could use these instructions to open up the stereo and clean up the inside of my display. Some reknob (previous owner) got crazy with Armor All and it made it's way into the interior portion of the radio display, between the window and the LCD display.

I have read this whole page which has been awsome in helping me figure out some stuff. I have a sony 8805x deck and want to make everything blue. My one thing that I couldn't figure out is....Is it better to buy the condoms which only cost 1.70 or to just buy a blue bulb/led ($3-7 for one). I looked on autolumination.com and found all these leds. Not sure which one to use...do i want one that shoots light all around or just straight out of it. Thanks people

Thanks again for the awesome HOWTO! I just did my HVAC and Radio tonight and it was no troubloe at all. just like the instructions. I just used the bulb condoms, red ones, and they look great. they dont seem any less bright than the green to my eyes.

Of course. Now i have to figure out how to do the clock. Because it looks totally out of place in green now! (I know there are tutorials on that too around.)

That info is in this thread also, use the search function at the top of each page, look for clock.

Oh yeah ive seen the references to the clock. they just werent very helpful. They all seem to be if you want to compromise and have it be red ON green and thus not very nice looking. If thats the case I'll probably have to figure something else out

You would probaly have to get the clock Open to see why it's green, (bulb, lens, condom) and change whichever it is. I get the impresion it's a PITA.

I;m contemplating taking it out, finding out the part number, exactly, of the lcd screen and seeing if i can't order something that takes the same voltage and all that but is red. Or.. maybe just taking it out. Thats what id do if i have the $$ for 3 gauges and a pod right now. oh well.

Just follow the instructions and you will NOT mess up. I wrote up and took the pictures to make it as easy as possible to follow.

Yeah it's definitely easy, but it's also easy to worry you'll mess something up. You'll be fine as long as you don't try to get the green film off the gauges, unless you know what you're doing because it's easy to break em, and yes I speak from experience..

I also used blue bulb condoms, but the color turned out to be more of a minty color. More green than blue. Yours seem more blue than green. Did you do anything in particular when you put the condoms on?

Did you forget to take the condoms off that were already there? They're green so that might explain your "minty" color.

Anyone have pictures of the original red setup? Seems the ones from the previous page have expired or something. Thanks.

Has anyone tried this mod on the '05 Dash? They have different radio & HVAC units - so I'm wondering if the instructions are still relevant.

I love the new style dash - but I'm not a fan of the green.
