Hey guys, if anyone's interested, I remember asking the forum about installing the "strake kit" on the base model. Went to the dealer today to get an oil change and asked the parts guy while at it. I finally found out parts number for the rock panel / side skirts in order for the strake kit to be installed.

it's called side spoilers and can be found here

http://estore.subarupartswarehouse.c...icleid=1502994

about $200 each along with some clips...

Are people really willing to spend hundreds of dollars for cosmetic plastic that won't enhance the performance of the car in any way? Wow.

I have the kit (on my sport), but if I didn't, I would not be buying it.

Sure why not? There is even less point in spending money to try to make it go fast.

Yes. All I'm doing is the axleback on this car. Already have the K&N drop in. This car is no speed demon, and the money would be better spent on other stuff. This car is all cosmetic for me. That and proper suspension.

The filter is cheap, what do you really gain with the k&n.

I've had them in other cars, but I don't feel the need on this one, it's not like my motorcycle where the horrible intake design hurt performance, and 2 little k&ns made a huge difference

So the guy in the movie "The Graduate" was right:

"Mr. McGuire: I just want to say one word to you. Just one word.
Benjamin: Yes, sir.
Mr. McGuire: Are you listening?
Benjamin: Yes, I am.
Mr. McGuire: Plastics.
Benjamin: Exactly how do you mean?"

I didn't say the filter did anything. I just put it in.

All I'm saying is that's all I'm doing to the car. It's not worth it to drop a ton of money into it performance wise. It won't benefit. It's not like my Si that actually ran well with mods.

Has anyone replaced tires on these cars yet? Just curious as to people's experiences. These Yoko's are alright, but I'm used to performance all seasons..

If he is talking about the strake kit all sports come with it:

not my car, but same color. Strake kit runs along the rocker panel.

If the aero mud guards were anything but cosmetic, I would have considered them. Instead I have flapatax and they actually keep the mud off the rear of the car.

the strake kit is the part in front of the rear wheel. looks like the aero guard in reverse.

Originally he was talking about the side molding that sports come with, that the strake kit goes on top of.

In any case, Cars101 has it all numbered and named in their photos

The Conti DWS is a good choice if you plan to use the same tire all year. But if you plan to have a separate set of winter tires, then a true snow tire would be even better in the winter, and a dedicated summer tire would be better in the tire.

Don't get me wrong, I've read that the DWS is a great all-season tire. But it's still a compromise when compared to true snows in the winter, and a true summer tire when temps are above 40 degrees.

Since AvgWhiteBoy lives in PA, a separate set of snows might make sense for him.

Yeah, I ran snows on my SS when I had it, and ebeb with FWD, it was great. But as long as you use common sense, solid all seasons still work great. We don't have a ton of snow around here, it's mostly ice.. In which nothing really helps on. haha But any type of performance all season will probably be great with the AWD.. I have had Goodyear Eagle GT-W's and Kumho Ecsta 4X's on the Si and worked good as can be expected on the FWD..

I think next winter I will have snow tires, just haven't decided what yet. I won't do just a summer only tire because our fall weather can get crazy. Otherwise I would consider just the DW.

That looks amazing. Sounds a little off, but could just be the recording or that it needs time to break in. But well done! Keep us up with how it sounds after break in!

On the left is an Impreza 5-door exhaust. On the Right is a BRZ/FRS stock exhaust. Hangars are in the identical spots... and it bolts right on. I expect someone else to install this on their Hatch soon.
