I wore spice bomb last night and had a few of the bartenders I know asking what it was. They enjoyed it. I didn't get the Aventus. I picked up noir by Tom Ford and 1 million by Paco Rabbane instead. Should see them tomorrow.

Nice. Aventus anywhere south of $200 is a good deal. I usually buy in bulk and sell, and if you get in on a split you can get it at cost for around $30/ounce. But you do not get a bottle, or anything like that. I didn't care for Noir, but 1 Million is solid. I own a bottle and still wear it time to time, I used to be in LOVE with it, so now, when I wear it, it brings back some fond memories. |

1 Million is a powerhouse! Love it. I wore it earlier this week and I could still smell it on me 12 hours later.

I've thought about purchasing the 1 Million, but it's just a tad too pricey for me at the moment. But it definitely is a nice smell that lasts.
I bought the Burberry Brit a few days ago on Amazon - still waiting for it to arrive. Haven't smelled it yet, I'm excited. |

The downside to Amazon is you don't know which batch you are getting. I can write a whole book on batch #'s and creed. But some are better than others.

Yea I had read that about the batches being different. Is each batch a one and done thing?

Each batch is a code for a specific drum it was mixed in. The most famous batches have more Pineapple (sweeter), and the least popular have more smokiness to them. They are getting better at being consistent, however. |

The only way to ensure you get a specific batch is to buy it from someone on Basenotes.com, or the facebook boards. If you call Creed, they will tell you the batch but you will have to pay retail. The key batch #'s to look out for are: X02 Z01 Both are no longer being made, but are in my opinion and many other's opinion are the best. The 2012 batches all seem to be doing well. |

I seem to have missed the past few days' updates. Skip, are you still trying to get rid of that TdH?

Haha. You need to know how I work...
I am quick to judge. I can tell if I will like a fragrance or not by the first spray. There have only been a handful of fragrances that have proven me wrong, and it usually lies in the silage (the breakdown of notes over time, mixing with your skin/body chem). TdH was one of these. I didn't care for it at first. But I gave it an honest fulls day wearing and I grew to like it. Another one of these was A*men, and a few of the Tom Fords. At any given time, I have someone that owes me a discount, or has what I want/need available. I posted to a few friends I was looking for TdH, and I got a 100ml bottle cheaper than a 50ml. |

I love TdH and am in need of a new bottle. I think I might try the parfum this time...
Edit: I'm also going to roll the dice on an inexpensive bottle of Yardley Of London Citrus and Wood - I've read that it's a pretty good copy of TdH. Last edited by MattJP; 02-13-2013 at 10:38 PM. |

Skip - besides La Nuit, could you recommend a cologne that'll make women go crazy? I'm out of La Nuit and my good looks need a new scent.

I look forward to hearing how that works out for you Matt. It has a fun name if nothing else.

It's definitely a winter scent, though. My top compliment getters have been: #1 - Aventus #2 - D&G - The one #3 - YSL L'homme & La Nuit #4 - Thierry mugler Pure Malt #5 - Hugo Boss # 6 |

Nice, thanks man. The Aventus is WAYYYY too expensive for me at the moment. I'm going to get my hands on one of their sample viles to test it out. |

Talk to me about A*men Skip. I just bought some of this because my lady really liked it despite the strong opening. I have to imagine this gets pretty mixed reviews. To me it's a really in-your-face frag.
I also pickup up D&G The One and have to admit I really like the scent, but it's very subtle. I guess that's not such a bad thing in contrast to A*men though. |

I love A*men. But the key to this frag is moderation. You'll think you can't smell it anymore and it's gone, but everyone around you can still smell it. So don't reapply with this one.

You're right on the money. I like A*men a lot, because it's not like anything else on the market. As you can tell, it's pretty bold. To me, it's a bold "Fresh" smell. Fresh smells are usually pretty relaxed, but A*men is pretty much in your face. Longevity is somewhat of an issue with D&G The One. On me, it lasts a LONG time on clothes, but not long on skin. So my recommendation is to give your shirt/coat a quick spray along with your normal routine. |

Just recently picked up some YSL La Nuit based on recommendations here, it smells great and have gotten a few compliments so far.
My go to list is Burberry Brit, Abercrombie Fierce and now YSL La Nuit will be high at the top of the list. |

I somehow ended up with a bottle of Abercrombie fierce that I do not know what to do with.
