Default W. Mass Crew: Let's Make A Video Next Time It Snows

I found the video in this thread inspirational. We should get together and make a video next time it snows... getting some shots of WRX's spinning like tops in formation would be sweet. I can take limited videos with my Canon G2 (digicam) but we should probably use a real videocam.

Who's game?

I'd reccomend that you just come out ice racing with Boston BMWCCA.

Safer, more managed, and more impressive videos will result.

See ya' on the ice!

I have a decent video camera, but its not digital, so I guess its pretty much useless.

For the record that video is kinda of lame. Especially the F-body. I'd like to do some higher speed drifting.

wow, that video is REAL lame. I just started watching it, then turned it off when I saw that all they were doing were 180's, then stopping.

dude, weak.

Yeah, the action in that video was not exciting. However, i laughed quite a bit when the music changed as they were trying to get the other cars moving.

Kha0S, I plan to check out ice racing. Do you have any links to videos? Also, as far as safety goes, I'm only suggesting that we go to some *big* empty parking lot to do some spins and *low speed* drifts.

I'm not Kha0s, but http://www.saturnperformance.com/stuff/video/ has a few of my short video clips from a couple of years back (I'm driving the green Saturn coupe). You'll have to scroll down a bit to the ice racing section.

Low speed slick-surface handling can be very, very risky. It just takes one guy to slide into another and start a domino effect.

Believe me -- it's not worth the risk.

When I wrote spinning in formation, I meant a really, really big formation (as in spread far apart). I sure don't want anyone smashing into anything.

I recommend that some of you reach behind your back and remove the giant pole from your rearend. Lighten up. Yes we know the consequences, Mr RSMatt himself smacked a pole. Seriously guys just try and live a little, that's all I'm asking. Yes I want to do this, I was going to do this with my friend. BTW my friend just bought a new Sony Digicamcorder so we can use that.

P.S. I thought that video was very cool and so did my friend.

I agree, but you'll never get this request.

Some people are afraid to be honest with us on how they really drive.

After having curbed my own wheel in a parking lot last winter, I'm only speaking from experience.

Don't get me wrong -- I'm not trying to discourage you guys from getting good video and having some fun... but when I read about "spinning in formation," particularly closely enough that video would show some semblance of formation, I just fear seeing a post in the forum mentioning four cars with bent sheetmetal after an innocent mistake.

Most people on this forum are unaware that more controlled, legal, and social venue for ultra-slick surface handling even exists, and I was just trying to share the wealth with you guys.

You're welcome to be offended, but that's not the intent.

/Andrew

We're well aware and I appreciate you mentioning it. Just some of the older IClub members can be a little anal and can be a tad bit annoying after a while. Sometimes this forum has a boarding school sort of feeling.

no comment...

anyhow for the most part that video blows in my opinion. weak ass driving and weak ass spins blah blah blah.

i guess going to play in a parking lot could be fun and mounting a video camera or taking a couple to capture the action is fun too but the editing and i guess the dramatic slide at the end of the video were the only things making it worth their bandwidth.

wow im not giving any love today lol.

but yea i got a video camera i will come watch you guys toast clutches and trannies with can do it from in car mounted on my dash like it usually is or just recording. Its not digital but i have the hardware to put it on the puter.

Hey now...let's not get age into this Most of the anal farts here are younger than you think.

Heck, I'll jump 495 if y'all help me build a snow ramp big enough.

Angus <--- older than you

I'm old, and anal, and annoying. I just don't give a crap if you drive like maniacs in a parking lot with snow

If someone hits a pole or gets some damage, don't think I'm not gonna point and laugh, that's all

Best of luck and looking forward to the video.

we've all done it....

When i did it i ended up in jail on new years, that sucked.

But I'm not gonna tell anyone not to do it.

I love seeing chaos in any form, for some strange reason when people crash their cars for driving like a jackass, i love to look at those pics, and just think .... <Nelson> HA HA! </Nelson>

btw- here's a tip for the rex, start off straight line get alittle speed and then pull a hard turn in either direction, and pull the ebrake for a second and release, then you will be in an uncontrolled spin, now keep the wheel locked in whatever direction you turned it before, then keep it there full power, eventually you will enter the perpetual AWD small radius spin. Then you can ease on the power...

Oh yeah and don't forget to give a peace hand signal out the drivers window as you do it!!! Much better video effect.....

me too...

Funny thing is, it's usually the "safety first, be legal, organized-event-or-die" preaching auto-cross type guys that crash their cars on the road

Hmmm... these videos won't play for me at all.... it's not the usual "it shows only video" or "i can hear it, but not see it" problems sometimes common to DIVX codecs. Any tips on what's needed to play them? I have the Nimo codec pack installed....

That's the same video in MPEG format, MPEG4 format and Windows Media Player format. No special CODEC required except for MPEG4 which requires Quicktime 6.
