Default Electricians, EE's, people familiar with NEC, I need your help

Hey, I am looking for guidance on a code issue at work. We are looking for some sort of documentation that specifies if electrical tape is okay for insulating 48VDC installations.

Specifically, we have some cabinets in a data center that have open DC lugs on them and need to be insulated without an outage. Can we use 600V-rated electrical tape or do we need to use heat-shrink?

I will of course need a code reference before proceeding. I am not familiar with the NEC at all and have no idea where to start looking.

I would think you would need to use something more permanent. Electrical tape will fall off over time so I would think you would need to use heat shrink. I don't have a code to back me up, I loaned my NEC to someone and they loaned it to someone else.

If you have a Ferm's Fast Finder (a book that tells you where to look in the NEC for codes) you can try to look under insulation/insulating. I have one in my work van, if I have time tomorow I'll look through that.
