If its the same mod (and as I said, I'm not sure if it is or not) the cut is right below the microweld on the injector itself (at least it is on the ones I have). I can't see your pic Cronic, so I'm not sure what you are showing (just see the red "x" )

I can post a pic of what I have, if somebody can post a pic of one just cut (I'll show you mine if you show me yours ). Should be pretty easy to see if they are identical, at least externally. I know the ones I get are flow matched as well, so maybe some more work is going into the ones I've been getting.

Kingpin or anybody else thats done this - do you have flow numbers for 4 injectors that you could show? Just to see how matched they are after doing this?

it would be awesome if you could show a modified injector. possibly next to an unmodded one?

Does your shop tell you what "flow matching" includes?

I'm pretty sure it would be the "or here" line in the pic. It would make sense for the cap to come off once you grind away the weld.

Cronic, I'm behind a firewall here at work, thats probably my problem (I tried just linking to it in a blank window and got a security error). Probably my problem.

As for "matching", what I get is a form saying "flowed to 73lbs" and some measurements (Injector #1 - 737cc, Inj #2 - 739cc, etc...). So, they are individually flowed.

The question though is... what is done? Is it just cutting the caps, or is it more? Thats the $1M question!

am i wrong in thinking this will decrease the atomization of the fuel...it will be more of a spray than a mist? I'm not just talking about the amount of fuel being flowed, but the way it is being sprayed.

Could you reflash my JDM ECU I believe its a AG790 for the 740cc and a T3/T04E setup w/ FMIC? This is with supporting mods of course.

Hey man Soon2BGreat and myself will be setting up another Tri-State dyno day in the early to mid spring in which KingPin will be tuning ECUTEK, UTEC, and other ecu's.. If they have some sort of basse map for you to hold you over until the dyno day that would be awesome..

i wonder if this mod will work on a stock rs injector where it also sprays out the sides, at least for the my00-01. that whole secton will need to be cut off aprox1/2". ive never really known what the importance of the side flow is seeings how my RC's dont have it. also aprox. how much is it to get injectors flow tested, i have an extra set sitting right in front of me and ill be willing to cut them right now and send them away tomorrow to see what theyll flow(obviously less then the wrx's but you would think that they should be able to spray around 500cc).

You cut the cap off. If you hold an injector in your hand you will see the cap is welded on. Either grind the welds down or just cut the end of the cap off. I have had great luck with these and they seem to be very close in flow. So close that testing is no longer needed in my opinion. Like I said, If you are worried then send yours into Venom or RC for testing. Its a waste of money but if it makes you feel better then go for it.

I have a program that should be damn close for your AG970 ECU with Garrett turbo and these injectors. I can also remove the limiters and cal for different octane. Email me if you need more information.

Good luck guys. I know you will like these and its a great value! Free! Just make sure you have something that can tune these guys. 740's are damn big injectors. Turbos like 20G, 1820, Garretts, SR's and AVO's can use this much fuel. Most of the VF's dont need nearly this much fuel but you can still use them as long as you have something to tune with.

I'd be interested to see if this works with the stock RS (00') injectors as well.

I don't see why not. I have these in my car... Kingpin tuned this, and PDXTuning will be tuning them in my car later this week.

Very interesting information. Thanks for sharing, as always

So, theoretically... one could just enlarge the holes uniformly and (ideally) get them flow tested by RC if one didn't want a whopping 740cc. Probably a bit sketchy to do. I'm thinking of the people looking for ~240WHP, etc.

Not likely. Get a custom EcuTek tune and sure.

We got hosed Josh, we got hosed

I'm going to wait for other people to try this out though before i take out the PE's. It would be cool to have this mod work though, and all along everyone thought DSMs were king of the free mods hahaha.

i would like to see what the wrx injectors look like with this mod done. i cut apart a my00rs injector and it ended up in pieces

it looks like the gas flow through this little tube

i even cut just after the secton with the holes but it must be all one piece. i then tried to grind another one down to see if it would work better but it turned out crappy to. i wonder if i should try drilling out the center and see how that turns out

I sure hope this is what Perrin is doing to the stock side feed injectors on the USDM STI.

I'm one happy camper if it is.

He did say that it's already been done on 7 cars. Which technically means it's proven. I still have my stock injectors and I will do the mod when I get the chance and send them out to be flow tested and post the results for everyone who's interested in seeing them.
