a few minor issues with my car
I didn't know the appropriate forum to put this in so please forgive me if this is the wrong place. I have a 2006 2.5i that has 25k miles on it.
First issue: The CD player in my car is acting funny. After it's been in use for about 45-60 minutes it starts to skip no matter which CD is in. The CD gets extremley hot and the cd player stops for a split second and goes again...this will continue unless i shut the radio off and give it a little rest. Get a new one under warranty? Is this normal at all with Subaru's? Ive had CD's get hot before but never had the player skip in any other subaru i've had. Second issue: Brakes are starting to squeal a little bit from the back. Brake pads are covered under warranty right? Third issue: There is a rattle coming from underneath the car. My guess is heatshields..happens only at about 2500-3000 rpms and mostly happens when going uphill.

1.Radio may be toast.
2.NY = Rust, could be rusty rotors/pads, and I don't think any manufacturer warranties brakes. 3.NY = Rust, (sound familiar?) so your heat shield assumption is likely spot-on. |

1. My stock CD player gets hot too, but it has never skipped. I don't listen to CD's that much though. I think the stock CD player is probably a cheap pile of crap.
2. Brake pads and rotors are not covered by warranty. They are a wear item. You should get them checked, brakes are important. Replacing pads and rotors is not a big or expensive job. 3. Heat shields. Re-secure them with additional clamps or remove them entirely. |

1. Take it to the dealer
2. Brake pads are CERTAINLY covered under Subaru warranty!!!!! Ya'll need to read your owner's manuals. Heck even wiper blades and the clutch are covered under Subaru warranty. 3. Have them check that when doing the above. |

Yup your right! My mom had her pads replaced under the warranty. She has a legacy 2.5i. I'm going to assume that if the rotors need to be cut they won't be covered though will they?

On my 2005 WRX w/10K miles they cut the rotors first, waited for them to warp again, then replaced. They said they had to cut first to justify replacement for defective. The second set was good for the rest of time I had the car (27K more miles). They put new pads on when they changed the rotors too, all under warranty.
