Just wanted to update this. I got tuned yesterday and ended up with 351hp and 405tq! Car feels amazing! Its so smooth too! Car had some left in her too but my stock clutch started showing it could slip. I was expecting like 320/350 max so km blown away at my numbers. It's pouring rain here so I haven't got a chance to really ring her out much. .

Yes VF52.

Also my tuner said my car seems to be a higher HP car since it made power so easily.

You guys have any problems storing E85 in those VP 5gal jugs?

i don't think anyone is really STORING e85 in 5 gallon jugs. the people storing it are mostly using 55 gallon drums or things of similar size. most people use the 5 gallon jugs as sort of a "range extender" for their gas tank.

for example: i use my three 5 gallon jugs when i go on road trips that don't have e85 stations readily available along the way. this allows me to have a highway range of about 600 miles instead of only 300 miles. i could easily just switch maps, but where's the adventure in that...plus, nobody wants to lose 100whp...

Yea, that's what I meant. VP sells 4 for $120. Those 4 plus a full tank should last me about 2 weeks give or take a day or two. That's okay? Or are the regular 5 gal jugs from home depot better?

Finally, someone that thinks like me when it comes to E85 and traveling. People think I'm nuts for doing this but being able to run on E85 in the mountains in Colorado was so nice.

I always have at least five extra gallons when I do rallyx or autox events that are kinda far. Don't wanna get stuck.

I did a track day a few months back where I blew through a tank and a half. Perplexed me at first but then I figured every thing was full throttle!

Fun Stuff

It's pretty common to get single digit gas mileage numbers at the track. I have brought 5 gallon jugs before, but we are fortunate enough to have E85 available within a few minutes of the track so it's not that big of a deal.

i just picked up a 97 impreza for $600 it is still pure stock and i have read up on running e85 infact dabbled with it in my 06 wrx. what i am looking for is a start for an ej22 build to run e85. would the 22 be a worthy build or should i be looking for a 20 or 25 swap. or even go outragous with a eg33 swap. just asking for opinions on it i know it doesn't fit here really but i really want to go e85 so asking people already doing it is a good place to start.

What do you mean Dabbled? LOL! You have to have a tune for it!

EG33 if you want power right there could be cool. Check this out:

It all depends on how far you want to go with it. And how deep you pockets are.

I figured someone better bring the E85 thread back up, its been too long.

Picked up a new Subaru, just got it on E85 last night. My wife wanted her own Subaru so we sold her Jeep and decided this would be a good one for her to get into.

Its an 02 WRX with a version 8 EJ207 Spec C drivetrain swap. The original VF36 was replaced with a VF37 after it developed an oil leak. Other than that its all stock except for a high flow catted DP and catback exhaust. I added some FiveO 1000's and a DW 300 pump and gave it a quick E85 base tune last night. I cannot believe how hard this thing rips now on E85. I'm pretty certain its going to put the hurt on my 2011 STi when am all done with the tune on it.

LOL. I know we've beat this dead horse a few times but I'll mention it again that I have FiveO's in my 2011, the same ones now in this car and I recommend them for people that I tune and I've never had an issue.

I'm very specific about which FiveO's though. They have to be the Bosch EV14 based injectors such as the 026IMP1000's 850's 1200's etc. Their Denso injector are alright but not nearly as smooth and linear as the Bosch ones from my experience.

I'm not a FiveO fanboy by any means and I'll be quick to call them out if I run into any issues but so far they've been stellar for me and they carry a nice price tag.
