Leaking valve stem -- Bridgestone or Subaru's warranty?
Last friday I noticed my back left valve was leaking after I aired up my tires (OEM Potenza RE92s on a 2000 legacy brighton, 25K miles). Since I was 2 blocks from the dealership, I went there and talked to someone in the service area, who advised me to go to the Les Schwab (western states tire shop chain) and have it looked at. I went there, and one of their techs tightened the valve in 30 seconds and sent me on my way. Later that night, after the car had been sitting for 3h or so, I drove a few blocks and realized the tire was completely flat! I threw on the donut and got the tire inspected the next day... no leaks, but it apparently leaked through the valve stem. Two or three different shops inspected the tire and told me that there was considerable sidewall damage (I drove maybe 1-2 blocks before I noticed a flat) and advised me to get a new set.
Now comes the blame game. The local dealership pointed me to the tire warranty and said that since it was a tire that went flat, they weren't to blame. The local firestone shop said that since it was the valve stem that leaked, and that was installed by SOA at the factory, that it must be their fault. This leaves me holding the bag and about $400 poorer after shelling out for a new set of 4, on what was definitely a defect of some kind. Has anyone else had any similar experiences and can share some advice, or give me some pointers about raising a fuss with SOA? thanks, -KK

I don't think you're going to get anywhere with this. If one bad tire made you replace all 4, them must have been pretty well into their life. Tires drepreciate, whether it be warranty or insurance. You might get a couple of bucks for 1 tire but if it were me, I'd move on.
