Unhappy water getting in? help!

I've got a 01 2.5RS and the last few times I have been vacuming out the interior I've noticed that I have moisture under my floor mats especially on the drivers side. I felt under the mat last night and it was really wet. Nothing is being spilled and if I were using the ac I might suspect the condensation tube was leaking into the car but it's winter so no ac in use.

One worry....I put in STI pedals and I had to drill the 4 holes for the dead pedal. I know a lot of people that have done this without any problems, but I did miss align one hole and had to re-drill it. Where the dead pedal sits is up from the floor and behind that is the inner wheel well. I didn't drill through the wheel well so I don't see how water could be getting in through a little hole that's not exposed to the outside, but who knows? Has anyone else had this problem with moisture under their mats? any ideas? Thanks

Hrmm..

You might want to try filling that extra hole you mis-drilled with silicone.

Silicone fixed my lights from leaking in my trunk (Rear JDM lights).

Has it rained after you got the pedals installed??

hope this helps a little.

put silicon on all the screws for the dead pedal and the extra hole. water runs down the w/s and goes into the cowl panel at the bottom of the glass. from there it drains out the bottom of the fender, between the inner wheel well and the door jam. it runs right past where you drilled the holes. hope this helps.

thanks for the suggestions. Does anyone know how, or have pics on how to access the area on the backside of where I drilled? I haven't looked closely yet, but I assume I'd have to take out the wheel well liner, is that correct?

Sounds like a huge pain is the a%# !, but I don't want it to eventually cause my floor panel to rust out.

I put the pedals in a few months ago and I've only noticed the moisture maybe 4 or 5 times. It's rained on and off here and even snowed a few times
