Don't give me the link http://lmgtfy.com/?q=.iso+file because all the isht is jargon to me. How does one open them? Help? I know there's some computer "geeks" (droppedclutch, that was just for you ) on here. Brandon? Tix? Anyone that knows more then me? Help.

Mr. K -

Think of an .iso as a compressed digital backup of a cd... this can be an audio cd, data, movie, etc...

If you have a CD image (.iso) and are looking to burn it to a disk so you can use the data just get a simple burner program like Nero or PowerISO...
IE: You use an app like the ones above to 'open' the .iso and then burn.

Or if you wanna be fancy you can use another app like Alcohol 120 and just mount an .iso as tho it were a physical disk in a physical drive. Then you cut the burn process out and have instant access to the data w/in the .iso.

Now that I have given you more 'geek speak' - what don't you get?

Edit:

This forced me to check newer versions for apps I was talking about
http://www.poweriso.com/

Looks like the latest version will also let you mount the .iso like alcohol 120 does... and its cheaper to too.

haha! Kyle, like others have mentioned, it's an image (exact copy) of a disc. I can recommend two free programs for working with them. For mounting (making it look like any other disc in a drive), I like using Virtual CloneDrive (http://www.slysoft.com/en/virtual-clonedrive.html) or DAEMON Tools Lite (http://www.daemon-tools.cc/eng/products/dtLite). For burning them back to discs, I like ImgBurn (http://www.imgburn.com/). While it's not free, WinRar (http://www.rarlab.com/) is nice for exploring the contents without burning or mounting.

By "mounting" do you mean the program will simulate a disk in a drive, so it comes up like that?
