Ed look over here.
there a new topic...
anyways, the price difference still makes the MRT a better value because that price includes headers (same length) back to the muffler. Rallispec is only doing the exhaust from the catback. I'm figuring on doing just a catback on the Forester and saving up for the MRT or something comparable in a couple of years to install on a used RS that I plan to build up similar to the Cobb 2.5NA SOHC buildup. It won't be too loud and will have some nice power to surprise the kids around here I'm just going to have a little fun with the Forester until I purchase the RS. Then the Forester gets the old swaybar back and whatever else was stock aside from the exhaust. \~ferretboy signing out.

Okay ferretboy I'm a little embarrassed because I assumed that the Aussie cars weren't EJ25 N/A cars but EJ20 or EJ20T's. I am always a little leery of headers designed for a smaller displacement engine being bolted onto one of larger displacement (or turbo headers for an N/A car), even if that's just a bore or stroke job. But then what do I know? I'm also leery of ordering parts from half a world away and then dealing with problems in the install. Rallispec would probably do my install but the MRT would be DIY.
If I were single and/or didn't have to haul stuff I might've considered a 2.5RS, and if my old car wasn't falling apart under me I could've gutted it out another year and gotten a WRX wagon. But the Forester is here for awhile. Catback will be okay for me for now - I'd be happy with my Forester @ 180-185hp and still burning regular unleaded. Again, what do I know? The only cars I've owned that I modded were my '86 VW and my '66 Mustang and that's apples and oranges AFAIC. Ed,
don't take it out on yourself bud. I hardly knew anything about our cars until I started reading on this board. I just made my order for the Rallispec catback official today. I spoke a while with Dave (great guy) and it will be going out sometime next week. Infact if you stop by sometime early next week, you might see them welding up the resonator to the midpipe I've learned that there isn't much difference between the bends on the 4E* and the Impreza except where the hangers are located at the muffler IIRC in speaking with Dave earlier today. Anyway with that said I think your Hp goal is about where I'd like to be too with my car. Then when the real toy comes around it'll be a 200+ Hp NA car. ~ferretboy signing out. |
