Threw a cel today!!!???
So today i was driving and i parked my car at the wawa with me and my gf. I get back in the car, go to start it and see something weird.. Flashing Check Engine. I thinkin oh ****.. My mods are MBC @14.5psi, and a GFB BOV 100%, +silencer removed. Now i never overboosted or nothing. There was no cel when i turned my car off either. I just got in the car and went to start it and it was flashing. So offto work i went under the hood in the wawa parking lot. I removed the mbc, took her out for a ride cel still flashing. pulled over and turned the car off, then back on, and the cel was gone.
What could have caused the flashing cel... BOV at 100% or MBC(but the boost was at a safe level, and i hardly boosted before i turned the car off initially).???

Flashing CEL indicates a real-time misfire. Could be a bad plug or coil, bad gas, vacuum leak etc. Unless the light also comes on steady there won't be a code stored.

By any chance, did you have the underdash panel off and notice some loose connectors under there, and plug them together? If so this puts the ECU into a diagnostic mode where the CEL will flash and the fans and solenoids may cycle.
In the event this is what happened just unplug those connectors and your car will be fine. |

CEL is gone.. I reinstalled my stock bypass valve, ran it for a while drove around played and all.. turn the car off, then back on several different times, at different durations of time and the cell has not re-occured. But get this everyone.. i went to autozone to see if they can pull a cel code, they said on the 03 wrx's they can't do because they cant get to the unit or somethin like that....
so i guess autozones can check our 03s? |

Tell them the OBD-II plug is located right under your dash. They can scan it, they prolly just didnt want to do something for free cause they were lazy or something..... |

I had the P0303 CEL a few weeks ago, myself. I was just under 20K miles when it occurred. The computer said "misfire on number 3 cylinder at cold start". The Subaru Tech at the dealership said it's a common CEL because of the proiximty of the turbo unit to the number 3 cylinder. It's kind of a "vapor lock" condition. Everything checked fine, so the dealer cleared the code and sent me on my way.
BTW: My light stayed on 3 days... |

Okay, so i reset my ecu and that didn't work. Im still getting the fluctuation idle and the fast blinkin cel. Here is in detail what happens. COLD Start, cel comes on and flashes, after 10-15 min of driving if i turn the car off, then back on, the cel is gone and idle is normal. Warm start, cel comes on, then if i drive around for 10-15 min again and turn off, the cel is gone.
From what i have noticed there is no difference in performance, car sounds the same and evverything, just a rough idle and flashing cel. 1. time it wouldn't boost past 7psi, but that didn't happen again. So what can this be, im totally confused, and what could have caused this to happen? |
