I've seen these brakes before. Some Nasioc members where buying these and relisting them here as "Brembos" but that's not always the case. This was an email from their customer service a year ago when I was interested. China casting was enough for me to not purchase these. I also notice in their pictures, the brembo marks are gone/removed. An alternative is doing the ATS brembo kit.
Their response: "Good afternoon Adam Most of the calipers that are non powder coated are reman calipers which are cores. Some might be Brembo some may not be depending on whats on the vehicle when customers return them or when we purchase cores. All our brake calipers are to OEM specifications our caliper department has a process on caliper cores from removing all the old bearings and seals and pin boots and slides to bleeder screws. Then to sand blasting and inspecting threads. And we have new castings from our supplier in China with new pistons and seals, pin and bolts and shims. And those are not going to have the Brembo stamp on the casting It would be hard for us to tell you which ones are OEM Brembo and which ones are not." |

Yeah, that's good info. If there's no way to tell if they are Brembo cores or not, then this is an easy pass.

Hard pass on the Chinese components. Brembo isn't stamped, its embossed in the casting. You would have to grind it off not sandblast, so if they can't tell which are brembo, they don't have any.

I bought a set of these last year for my track car after I had a caliper get damaged in a crash. They worked fine once installed, although one of the pistons on one of the calipers didn't like to retract when swapping pads. The caliper worked fine once I got the piston back in (usually done by disconnecting the brake line and removing any residual pressure), though. I think this particular caliper or piston may have some scoring or ovaling in the bore that is impactful when the pads are really worn. I noticed it last year when I was burning up some old pads that were mostly dead. I got annoyed and put that caliper back into my spares pile and re-used the original one, which was fine just old.
The other caliper never had an issue, and I've put probably 1500 miles on it (mostly track miles) without a complaint. My 2c is that these are worth what they cost; when I needed calipers on short notice, most of the Brembos for sale were $700+, had stripped threads and needed to be rebuilt, so these worked out. Rebuild kits were something like $180 and I didn't want to deal with helicoiling threads. I never tried to return the one that got bound up, though. I plan on swapping out the Brembo calipers for the AP Racing kit, since the Brembo caliper isn't really a track grade piece of hardware, OE or rebuilt. If I was driving on the street only, or had mild track use, I wouldn't be too concerned about the rebuilds. |
