I just put the stock wheels/tires back and dropped off the car at my dealer.

I can certainly feel a difference, the car feels more dead now with the 19's. The lighter 18s and shorter tires brought the car more to life, especially for autox and on the track. Its not as dramatic as it was with my Mk7 GTI and the light 17s with RE71Rs I put on that car, but yes it is noticable.

Why in the world would they reject a claim on a car with so few miles?

How dare you race your race car and expect the manufacturer to make it race-worthy!

Nonsense.
What modifications did they say violated the warranty?

Unless they can somehow prove that an AOS and 91 octane tune placed increased loads on the transmission I believe it is illegal for them to deny your warranty claim.

Subaru of America is a professional when it comes to dealing with modified Subies and warranty claims. I got into it with them years ago. It's a tough and annoying battle, but it can be won if you make enough noise. Especially since you have a very track-oriented car from the factory.

Somewhat good news. SOA is willing to cover all but $500 of the repair, contingent on replacing the ECU as well... odd but OK sure.

That is good news. Probably so they can keep the ECU to use in future
Claims.

So are you going to keep it now? Hows the job search going?

Got the car back today. 2nd-3rd and 3rd-4th gear shifts feel way better than they did before. I really think something was wrong from the factory or someone fubared it before I bought it...

I do plan on selling the car though sadly.

Oh wow.

Just don't want it anymore? What are you planning on replacing it with?

Don't have any need for it right now and owning it limits my options.

Don't know if I'll be getting anything else soon, but never know.
