Water/Methanol Injection or Race Fuel or Both
Unfortunately I cannot upgrade to a bigger turbo at this time but I'm looking to get a little bit more power with my stock turbo and injectors. I have a UTEC and have a some experience tuning it w/ a WBO2. The question is should I try tuning w/ 2 gallons of toulene in a full tank or try a WI setup and tune w/ 93 octane? Is Toulene the right thing to be playing around with?
Here are my mods: TXS Turboback (catless) TXS intake TXS FMIC UTEC ~17psi (tuned a little rich but close to 100% IDCs (I know NOT Good) Perrin Inlet Pipe Samco Intake Pipe

Between WI and toulene i'd choose WI, but that also depends on what setup you plan on using. The setup costs for WI are obviously alot more as i'm sure you know, but pretty cheap once setup, lol. I think toulene's great as a once in a while, in a bind kind of thing, but for a true day to day octane enhancer i think you're better off with the WI, or even another additive such as torco. Good luck.

I would sugest alky injection. Since alky is a fuel you can get away with smaller injectors.
At 17 psi I was also around 100% dc, now i'm in the low 70's and still too rich. |

Easy install and works great. I've had it on my subie for over 5 months with no problems and I've had it on my Grand National for over five years with no problems except traction! |

I also think you get more consistant (if not higher) octane with the torco, and it's easier to measure/pour as stated. My choice would be WI though. Good luck. |

I am also thinking about upgrading to bigger injectors to squeaze a little more out of my stock turbo. WI and fuel additives should allow me to lean fuel mixtures out quite a bit. What happens when they are used in conjunction? Can you run even leaner and/or run more timing and boost? My limiting factors beyond the injectors and turbo are my tranny and clutch which I am trying to put off for as long as possible. I am just tyring to figure out a way to get a slightly bigger smile on my face when I hit the gas.
Thanks for the replies! |
