Personally I would buy a little nozzle insert that fits after the IC before the TB.

Hello everyone,,
Denatured alcohol is NOT methanol, it's ethanol that has been denatured with things such as Bitrex and Methanol. Isopropyl IS NOT methanol. snaptube.cam/ syncnet.onl/telegram-web/ https://9apps.cam/ I would be careful just dumping anything labeled "alcohol" into my injection system. Water/Methanol Injection FAQ
Hey guys. I noticed that washer fluid msds is measured methanol by weight not by volume. -25F is usually around 34%. So my question is what VOLUME of pure methanol does it take to get it to 50% by weight? Assuming boost juice is 50% by weight not volume. Meth is about 6 lb per gallon and water is more like 8. I was thinking adding 24 oz of pure methanol per gallon(removing 24 oz of wiper fluid from the bottle first) would be roughly the right spot but that is going by volume. Doesn’t need to be perfect but I need significantly more knock resistance than wiper fluid is giving me.

So I weighed a gallon of -25F wiper fluid and it is 8# per gallon (actual weight of fluid excluding the container).
If we believe the MSDS is around 33% then it is ~50 oz of meth per 128oz of wiper fluid which is 33.65% by WEIGHT and is 39% by VOLUME. My plan is to displace 24 oz of wiper fluid with 24 oz of HEET which will get me 57.8% by VOLUME or 52% by WEIGHT. These are rough calcs but I believe they should be about right. Cost about $7/gal which is $3 less than buying boost juice. Last edited by pcampbell; 12-02-2019 at 01:59 PM. |

Water/Methanol Injection FAQ
2.28 gallons of straight meth(6x 4 packs of 12oz yellow Heet). was $35 shipped from Walmart. Yes significantly more expensive than M1 but individual measured containers and sealed containers is key for me.

Water/Methanol Injection FAQ
To get roughly 50-50 water meth. Remove wiper fluid to slightly above the lip in the bottle (105 oz mark). Add 24 oz of heet (2 bottles). |

Is there any sort of demand for lab grade methanol in the tuner world?
I am working with considerable amount of methanol to perform a specific cleaning process and the "waste" methanol has been exposed to nothing more than the atmosphere for 20 minutes during the cleaning. It is then disposed of. As a result of the minimal exposure the methanol is getting, I started to become curious if this "waste" could be repurposed into something besides an incinerator. |

Interesting, what did it absorb? It’d probably be fine for methanol injection mixed with water.

There is a coated optic lens that is immersed in the methanol in an ultrasonic cleaner. No absorption to speak of other than exposure to the atmosphere.

Hey guys can anyone tell me how much of a significance does the injector placement have? I currently have mine inside of my IC before TB but it is also offset (not directly inline with the TB). I am thinking about moving to 2 smaller nozzles post TB on the intake manifold as it splits into 2 cylinders per head. I assume this will be better, but... how much better?

How much does that -40C stuff cost you? We don't have it in the USA, even in Vermont , but might be able to go get it in Canada lol. Maybe a truck stop near the border.

Water/Methanol Injection FAQ
Nice. I wonder what they would say to a trunk full of water meth at the border crossing hehe. This stuff is probably very similar to boost juice for $8 a gallon shipped. Not quite worth a 4 hour round trip drive to Canada but maybe if I was there for something else. Like going to see a rally race in trois rivieres.

If I relocate my IAT sensor do I want it before or after the water meth nozzle??
Will locating it after the meth nozzle give me falsely low readings?? |

So it’s basically right before the nozzle right? That is what I was thinking. Mine is a top mount air/water.

One more question does it matter if I put the nozzle before or after the TB? I have the solenoid already. I was going to get one of those nice looking TB adapters from snow.

I think there are pros and cons for each, with proper solenoid/check valves you dont worry about vacuum siphoning having it post tb, however you ideally have it further away from the intake manifold, but there isnt much room. I haven't had an issue yet with damaging the tb with extended use as some other manufactures cars have, and mine has been installed for many years now. |

Thanks, mine is setup just like this now, except on the top side instead of bottom side (air water intercooler).
Unfortunately I ruined my Snow #5 nozzle in the process. I do not like that the snow nozze wrench spot is recessed so I want to switch to a Devil's own nozzle. Their wrench spot is not recessed which means you can tighten the nozzle (and the nozzle holder) all the way down until it stops on the wrench location. I always thought the snow design was poor. The question now is which Devil's own nozzle to get. They have a lot more sizes closer together. They are recommending #5 based on 2.5 litre, 18psi and 6900rpm but I don't know if their calculator is "valid" since I am using a Snow pump which may be at a different psi. http://www.alcohol-injection.com/en/49-nozzles Well here is some interesting info... Seems like #5 might be right. https://forums.vwvortex.com/showthre...w-test-results Last edited by pcampbell; 04-15-2020 at 10:18 AM. |

Has anyone here gone direct port? I've been thinking about going to an Aquamist setup for safety and the fact its the best Methanol Kit on the market without standalone controllers and what not.
